I understand rushing goes counter to games like civ where rush strategies degenerate gameplay to warrior/archer rushes. However why mad at rushing Starcraft 2, its the franchise from which the famous/infamous zerg rush spawned. Furthermore rushing and supressing/harassing your enemy early is a key strategy in most RTS.

Just play Sengoku Rance or Daibanchou Big Bang Age. Both have many girls with mini routes and a 4-6 main heroines who have a full route. Both require tactical and strategic decisions of which there are many, and you will have to "work HARD'. As for fast paced, depends on your skill. Both games have no gruesome endings.

If i recall correctly thats the mission where the wraiths keep mass spawning. Just bring along the eushully girls + melodiana + emelita. Form up a line blocking the entrance to the wraith room, the angels will protect each other from being charmed thanks to angels guardian. Keep Black eushully and emelita at the back, use both AOE's simulatenously should knock out most wraiths allowing you to seal most if not all portals. If your on first playthrough the fight is heavily based on luck, best equips would be demon shield (pray shield II activates) or lucky bracelet (for quick kill) or sanctified necklace to better tank that long range holy attack. On second playthrough itll be much easier, equip the bracelet that gives magic resist III (forget name) and the hero shield (shield III +10 evasion !) youll be able to easily take the holy attack but still take moderate damage from missle attack.

The indiana jones wannabe you refer to is Macgyver or Gyver Mac, some 80's TV action hero. Yes he's hard to clear but obviously the better characters need harder clears. I mean after all that exp feeding and babying Hinnai finally becomes a man or more specificially a Super Saiyan definitely worth the trouble. As for Rouga being a badass, i think anyone who can dodge bullets and tank rounds and be able to punch a tank till it explodes is a serious badass.
