Each person has their own reason for playing a visual novel and each person's doing this in a totally different way. Some people are only playing the routes of heroines they are interested in and some people won't stop the game before they saw the last CG. Either way, the most important thing is that you enjoy visual novels.

Nah, many visual novels have character routes, so the normal ones, and also a true route/ending that will be unlocked after finishing the other routes. Oh and don't worry, the anime shows the true ending of the game, so the epicness of clannad. There are character routes and true routes with good, true, bad or dead endings. Then again, each their own, it's not that there would be a rule for describing stuff.

One can not escape that fate. True, the main route basically shows mr.badass's past. Damn interesting but also damn awesome. Actually, that route was too good for a fandisc. Anyway, you can pretty much forget about the other routes, I didn't play them but desi-chan spoiled me everything and shit, you don't wanna play this stuff.

Same here. There are some titles which I want to see translated though (I'm looking at you tayutama) but it's not like I would spend every day searching for some progress informations. It's actually the other way around. I usually find a new translation project feat an interesting visual novel but I always forget about it in no time. Then, after some months, the patch's released and I'm like, holy shit, I never knew this title was being translated.

Kamidori, great game, at least when we're talking about the gameplay. The characters and the story were just...awesome gameplay man. I stopped kamidori while playing it for the second time, dunno why, but I was probably bored by it. And most heroines had big boobs anyway, sigh.

Well, to be honest, the first season of clannad wasn't that great. It had its moments but the rest was just slice of life and joking around parts. Anyway, I definitely agree with all those clannad fanboys when it comes to after story, awesome shit. As for the visual novel, again awesome shit but it was a pain in the ass to unlock the true ending. Clannad as your first visual novel isn't the best choice. Source, own experiences. =\
