Daibanchou is a lot of fun and there is a metric ton of stuff to do and see. I've played through the game six (seven?) times trying to do character clears, and there are still many people left to clear even after all this time. And I haven't even tried hard mode yet . Only issue is that the gameplay gets repetitive and eventually you just don't want to do the school and region stages anymore lol

I'm a typical completionist so I usually go find a walkthrough for a game while I'm installing it. If your thought process is 'I'm not done until I've seen everything', then a walkthrough is pretty indispensable.

*raising hand* I'm reading this thread and I think it's interesting to hear somebody else's thoughts while playing a VN lol. I have yet to play this particular title yet, but it's on my list, so it's useful to me to hear somebody else's firsthand thoughts so I can decide whether I want to play it soon or later on. Hope you don't fall into a depression after playing two dark games back to back, Haika... haha

Story or GTFO, but I also don't want the H content to be boring, so that gets the thumbs up as well. Gameplay is usually a nice distraction, and I do appreciate it when the gameplay is fun, but I'm perfectly fine reading a VN with no traditional gameplay. I think it's rare to have an eroge that really hits all three well; first games like that to come to mind are Sengoku Rance and Monster Girl Quest.

@Haika A late response on my part, but reading your thoughts on the ending has me grinning like a fool. Your post sums up both my feelings at the time I finished the story and my current feelings about the game. It's satisfying to me to hear someone else affirming my opinion of one of my favorite VN's hehe. For me, the icing on the cake was returning to the menu and hearing the full orchestra version of Air, a.k.a. the main theme for the game, because it meant that everyone had finally had a good ending; it was like they all stood together and played in perfect harmony. A true legendary end

I'm always prepared for this situation; I keep my desktop spotless at all times and my links to sites in a folder under my favorites called 'H' (appropriately named lol). All my downloads are in a folder I made called 'hidden' and threw in some preinstalled picture-editing program's files; I'm going for a 'hidden in plain sight' strategy instead of putting my stash behind something password protected, just in case somebody ever goes looking for hidden files on my PC and checks for password protection. I haven't ever bought one, but I really want to buy at least a few good ones, like Fate or G-Senjou. Problem is, I'm a U.S. college student with no income to speak of. Plus, if somebody ever discovered the game hidden in my closet or something, I'd have some explaining to do. Once I have a job and place of my own, though, I think I'll go take another look at that importing guide I read online once...

Hey now, I thought Kanon's good ending was inspiring! Well, the figure skating part, not the actual ending, which was a little too open-ended for my tastes. Tsubaki's was the clear winner for me, as far as the side heroine routes go. I thought that Mizuha's route was actually the weakest one, but it just makes Haru's route that much better. The darkness theme is a big part of what makes this one so good. Watching Kyosuke's dark character evolve is really engrossing. Though, I was really depressed during the first few hours of the game because there was a lot of evil going around lol

It's true that reading VNs isn't really a 'normal' form of entertainment, so the pool of people who do read them is relatively small. Add in that most of them have male main characters, and even less of that pool is likely to be female. This being said, there is no logical reason that a girl wouldn't like a good VN; everybody likes a good story, regardless of gender. It's just the limiting factors like male MCs pursuing heroines that give VNs a larger male fanbase. Well, that's my obvious statement for the day. Lol wow, people have some cool dads. If my dad caught a glimpse of something he shouldn't, he would get really serious and insist on talking to me about it and would basically not understand but would try hard to understand lol. So I guess that wouldn't be too bad either. I feel like most people hide their eroge from family/friends to avoid akwardness instead of fearing some sort of punishment. Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure that everybody except for maybe maybe one person in my life would condemn me for admitting I enjoy lolis. I don't think anyone has ever successfully convinced a 'normal' person that something like loli isn't child porn.

OneManArmy was right about this; once you have the files regardless of their type, you can always go find a free audio converter that converts whatever filetype to your standard mp3 and the like. One of the programs I found a while back is literally called 'free mp3 wma ogg converter'.

Sometimes it's easier to extract the music directly from the game, and other times it's easier to just grab the OST off of the net. It really just depends on whether the OST files are still available on whatever site they were hosted on.

I used to read this series, but I stopped a long time ago because I got to the point hwere I couldn't remember what had happened in the last chapter hehe. Now that it's finally been finished, I've got to go back and read it start to finish (I haven't yet tired of the 'got to be stronger' story type lol). I agree 100% that the series needed a better anime from the beginning.

At the risk of being ridiculed, which game is that character from? Obviously I haven't gotten to that one yet lol
