What kind of eroge do you NOT play, ever?
Bane Doyle replied to superBlast's topic in Eroge General Talk
Beauty is in the eye of the player. You may think a character is ugly, but someone else may just think they're "not as pretty as the others". -

So I just played the Dengeki trial... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE END OF JUNE NOW. It's not even the story or the art that got me, IT'S THAT DAMN MUSIC AND THE UI. -

JAST.... You haven't updated ANYTHING in months. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER. 8| AllIwantismySchoolDaysupdatesisthattoomuchtoask? DracuRiot! seems to be going along nicely. It is a small percent of a large game, but that was fast for a pre-patch with that many lines. -
A new visual novel on steam?? - Analogue: A Hate Story
Bane Doyle replied to Caelistas's topic in Eroge General Talk
^ And it is annoying as fuck to figure out what to do and feel like a retard when you figure it out. -
This site is primarily for eroge that also double as visual novels and visual novels that may be all ages (non-eroge games). There really... AREN'T any games that don't fall within this umbrella here. BMW was probably the closest there was to something that isn't actually a VN in some way. Most JRPGs that are translated are for consoles too, from what I know. I don't know if the admin would be up for adding a new section given this.

I get where you are coming from superBlast. I greatly enjoyed the Higurashi games but... well, eventually I just couldn't TAKE the art and got the sprite patches for them. The age doesn't bother me at all, and resolution and other things don't as much as others, but a first impression is VERY important. I recently got hold of the translated Manken! ... and I HATE that I can only play with the keyboard. It's stupid and petty but it is ANNOYING ME SO MUCH I am having a very hard time enjoying it. (The localization should bother me more, but this small thing is worse to me) -

Not all old art is bad, it's all just a personal taste of style. For example, the art for Eve Burst Error is perfectly alright, the style is just very old and quite different from what is expected now a days, and that was released in 1995. Higurashi, which was released in 2002... yeah, that art isn't good. It just.... NO.... You could say that since it was a doujin game it gets a pass, but Fate/Stay Night came from a douhin group, came out the next year, and its art is much better (granted, much improved from the giraffe necks of Tsukihime). ... I don't even know why I am replying to this. -
I saw the trailer and a few gameplay examples of this game and I immediately thought I might like it. But I thought the odds of someone picking it up were slim to none. Glad I turned out to be wrong.

Well there are only... what? 3, 4 yaoi games fully translated? 2 officially? I admit, I liked Enzai (THAT STORY), but not the other one (so much impossible sex). So not everyone at least. XD (NICE to know a guy who is open minded about it by the way!) Though the "yaoi us gross, yuri is hot" hilarious given how most guys who say this can't understand girls who say the opposite. (Me, I like both) I think the dislike/non-existent opinion toward otome games is most people here are guys, correct? And not many are translated, right? A lot of girls have gotten used to having to play as a guy, as -

I can play almost anything as the content, so long as it is not ridiculous or forced, does not bother me as much as most people. However I do tend to want to avoid nukige unless there is a story somewhere in it. For example, I LOVE Monster Girl Quest because it is so much fun and the story, despite being around SO MUCH PORN is very nice, and even the ero in it is interesting enough to want to get as much as you can. But something like Cosplay Fetish Academy kinda... seemed forced and bored me a bit. -
A new visual novel on steam?? - Analogue: A Hate Story
Bane Doyle replied to Caelistas's topic in Eroge General Talk
As much as I enjoyed the game the LACK of being able to use the mouse what so ever made it very difficult for me to enjoy. At least Analogue has you use both, not just one or the other (granted with the typing you didn't have a choice, but that make it like you are actually using the system in the game). -

Didn't Steam at one time supposedly not team up with MangaGamer because they didn't want to be tied to a porn distributor? (This is just something I saw said somewhere else before, don't take me for truth) It might be hard for JAST to get into Steam's good books because of their other titles if this is true. -

^ It sort of is in a way that you click much like you do on your desktop, you also type in different commands at different points of the game. (and it doesn't seem to be, it has some nice reviews, but I still need to play it) -

I'm surprised (English made, indie, not well known, very little gameplay), but also rather glad. This could be a very good opportunity for other visual novels to find their way into the "legit" scene for video games. -
Visual Novels Translation Status [Weekly Updated][04/29/2012]

Dracu-Riot! ... GOD DAMN IT. I have almost no space on any of my hard drives and NOW this gets a translation started? Oh well. At least by the time it is finished I might have a new external hard drive for storage. -
While I do not have a FONT issue as I have this font installed (I needed it for KH), and the text itself looks perfectly fine and has no overlap what so ever... The game does NOT word wrap in the slightest and it is incredibly annoying. My locale IS set to Japanese. I already tried reinstalling the fonts as well. Other than doing what I have already done no one seems to have a fix listed on the main site. AGH, this is one of the few things that really annoys me with technical issues. If I was determined enough I could just play it as is but THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING. B( (I really wanted

You know... I would actually LOVE to see a non-H anime based on Harem Party for some reason. I cannot fathom WHY I want one, but I think it could be interesting. Also, Ever 17 and Saya no Uta. ESPECIALLY these two actually.

Which group of characters do you hate most in Eroge?
Bane Doyle replied to Masao's topic in Eroge General Talk
I don't really hate any particular group (that would be silly after all, like hating a genre based on a few movies). But "arrogant" girls annoy me the most. They really get under my skin sometimes depending on how they are written, and many times I find them to be written either so poorly or one sided that it is hard for me to enjoy them. -
Honey If you don't like the anime, you might just HAAAAAAAAAAAATE the game. Because the game has even more bad endings. Personally? ME GUSTA, I love bad endings like that and I got a kick out of the show because I really started to hate the characters. But, in general, the game actually is very interesting for the fact that it is more... an interactive anime, of sorts. I have never seen another VN with the same style and it is well worth the play just for that. JAST is bringing out the HQ version soon (hopefully) so it may be best to wait for that, but if you don't mind I say go f

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei Only Saikoroshi-hen. Batsukoishi-hen and Hirukowashi-hen were never translated, much like the console exclusive Matsuri and Kizuna arcs. Hold out for MangaGamer hon because at this rate no fan translators are gunna finish it.

(When did they almost go bankrupt?) JC Staff has made a lot of great adaptations (by fan standards of the source material) even if the only VN one they did was awful, but that was 9 years ago and I am willing to overlook the show that does not exist in my mind. Bakuman, Toradora!, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Ghost Hunt, Shana, Slayers, Azumanga Daioh, even Utena. Hell, just because of the first and last one I am willing to look forward to this. They aren't as bad as a lot of people make them out to be. They're not even on my favorite studio list and it annoys me how much hate they get, and h
