Hunter2x2 10
The best thing about getting console VNs localized is gem reviews like this. Half of it is a rant about how moe is ruining everything, the other is about how impossible it was to comprehend Xblaze's simple route mechanic.
Harlequin 17
As long as they don't change the awesome perverted jokes too much in Grisaia (like the ones from Sachi), eeeeverything is good. But koestl only said "freshly polished translation", so that shouldn't have to happen. Plus this isn't MoeNovel. And it's based on an already existing game version (PSP, Vita, whatever). Oh and, yea, GRISAIA ON STEAM. It's a pretty big deal man. That's how I see it at least. Why? Because Grisaia is a big and lengthy title with great quality. This and Higurashi... mmmmm, good for Steam. It's also nice that Planetarian will be on there, though I haven't read that myself yet. I guess it's more important that maybe other Key titles will show up eventually because of it.
JCAll 13
Can't get it on steam otherwise. Well if it sells we'll probably see more story based vns localized. I don't get why steam doesn't allow eroge. All the crap on the system already, a little smut can't make things worse. Might class up the place, actually.
killerinsidee 14
^ For the same reason why Sony or Microsoft don't allow it on consoles -> because fuck you. @Harle - I agree. While the MG liar game is great, I think the Grisaia and Planetarian on steam are the best news we got this year (Higurashi was announced before). However, I don't know how likely it's going to be for Key to bring bigger titles on steam. They have been throwing Planetarian around before (android and whatnot) so it couldn't hurt to put it on steam, from their point of view. Think they did anything with the other stuff as far as I know. Doubt we should expect anything like LB on steam any time soon, in my opinion. Shadolance 10
I'm interested in the Steam version of Higurashi having seen the anime (all of it), and played a bit of the original game release. Granted, there's nothing they could make better about Grisaia, and it's one of those games where I actually appreciate the H scenes because they're so well placed and actually add meaning to the story. For example... Not only is Amane's route actually impossible without the background sex stuff to create the reason her story unfolds, but in Yumiko's route the H-scenes are so well placed it feels incomplete without them. Sacchi's route was a little on the weird side, and I could have gone without H in Makina's route, but the rest was all pretty much perfect.
Daeverius 17
Doesnt sony actually have eroge? At least on psp from what i know. EDIT. Sony has eroge on psp and ps2. Edited July 4, 2014 by Daeverius
desi 53
Doesnt sony actually have eroge? At least on psp from what i know. EDIT. Sony has eroge on psp and ps2. About that.. it's a UMD format for psp, so it doesn't pass through Sony. They don't approve/disapprove it, it's technically the movie format. So while there are psp eroges, it doesn't get certified by Sony.

Chipp12 10
These are not games for PSP, more like video (UMD-PG) for PSP. Like DVD-PG (Phantom of Inferno/etc.). I've already tried several on my PSP. Edited July 4, 2014 by Chipp12
desi 53
For Higurashi on Steam - Doddler confirmed you can pretty much use the new sprites or the original one. Also that he's working on making it compatible with the other mods (Ps2 sprites, etc). Plenty of choices.
Chipp12 10
Pretty sure they won't add CGs from PS2 since they've decided to use new artist for sprites but it would be cool if we also get PS2 BGs/voice acting.

No, they won't add them. But he's making it mod friendly so users can do whatever they want.
evollove 10
Wait, what? JAST released something? (granted it's a nukige, but still) Harajuku Dating Paradise - Download Edition VNDB Page (nothing much in here though) Amazingly, it's been 3 years since they last released a localized nukige (Yukkuri Panic: Escalation from 2011 when I checked VNDB. 2012, if you'd count Moero Blaze as a Nukige). Compare that to MG who churns them out like rabbit spawn every few weeks. JAST must really be making money out of J-list to not rely on the same strategy as its competitor to stay afloat. Dan 12
Actually they released not only Harajuku Dating Paradise but also the fandisc for the My Girlfriend is the President. The first from description is even kinda dating sim-like and the second a moege. Not bad, hoping for the admin to upload them when he is able. Mangagamer releases more nukige but also much more quality visual novels with a good story than Jast...which is mostly releasing fan translated games under its banner and being generally "SOON". I can't see it being a effective tale by snipping any of the darker stuff - in fact, that's what made the story so chilling~ And I don't recall much sexual content at all in it (other than some jokes and inuendo). And completely agree with you - a VN like Grisaia on STEAM could end up being serious business by sparking interest in the genre overseas, it is a well told tale and doesn't embaress the genre at all (some concerns about if/how they will water down the more traumatic parts (such as most of Amane's story, etc) I don't know how Steam's featured games (front page shots) work, but if Higurashi or Grisaia could land that spot even for abit, it would improve the impressions of VNs in oversea markets. ...hopefully? Higurashi IS all-ages. All-ages is just a term to describe anything that isn't 18+ nowadays. The MG version doesn't censor anything story-related (they did take out a few things like a few tracks due to copyright and some gameplay related thing). Only thing I can think of is one sprite that might be changed, but I highly doubt it because the sprite in question is still sold in the all ages version that MG sells. Dragondraco 11
Nah as soon as it drew attention to VNs in general it'd also draw attention to the loli, insest, rape and many other things in alot VNs. Mind I'm not being judgmental here. Personally I say to each his own as far as what you enjoy in a storyline but you know most folks wouldn't hold that viewpoint. For the most part people outside of Japan just don't get it when it comes to VNs. Only a very small percentage do. An example....I can never get my friends to understand them. They just ask me why I waste so much time on a porn story when I could just look up quicker and better porn online lol.
johnnysasaki 14
I hope that with the new release of Higurashi they make it possible for a 100% perfect music restoration patch. It's not possible in the current release because of they handled it by replacing some different tracks with the same repeated one.
