Hello, I recently started playing school days HQ and I've had no signifigant problems so far. However there are a few thigns that seem a bit off and I wanted to find out if others also experienced them. I've only gotten as far as the first time with Sekai, but these things bugged me enough to bring them up here.

- Sometimes a scene can feel like the video hangs/lags while the audio carries on. Like a visual tansistion or cutaway seems as though it goes on for far too long compared to what the audio is doing. Or the audio and the visuals seem to be focused on unrelated things due to either the video or audio hanging/lagging? Is this actually an issue or is it just poor scene composistion and editing of the animation?

- Audio sync issues have not been as prevelant as the above. There has been a few on a occasion but they seemed to fix themselves relatively quickly. There was a pretty apparent sync issue for the "first time" scene wth Saionji though. During the actual sex the video seems to be about 5 seconds behind the audio. A sync issue seems to occur in the same spot every time which is when the transistion/cutaway to their phones happens before Makoto inserts himself. I'm hoping this does not happen with every H scene.

So did anyone else experience these things? Any known fixes? Or are they just products of a game of this nature?

EDIT: just got to Kotonoha's first H scene and same thing again audio seems out of sync and the transistioning of the animations is pretty bad. Also found out that there are at least two different things that can happen in the break room? sex and the other where kotonoha shows of her "talents". Im assuming either one happens based off of the decisions you make? either way it all seems a bit quick (going from a single kiss to sex in a relationship) and poorly implemented too.

Thank you so much for the reply, it was difficult to just get into the game with these things on my mind and not knowing if they could be fixed or not. Now I can just play without worrying! Also I've seen a few clips from the anime here and there and noticed that the VN is lacking in depth with some scenes. For example in the pool scenes, Kotonoha can't swim in the anime and Makoto helps her learn, but in the VN this never comes up and she happily goes in all of the pools and uses all of the rides. I'm assuming the anime came after the visual novel so they decided to flesh things out more? which seems odd considering anime are normally more condensed.

I'm assuming Shiny days imrpoves upon all of the issues I mentioned? I'm likely going to get that after school days.

The anime was released after the game , and about Shiny Days

Yes they improved it , but the game engine is still very "sensible" , It constantly crashes if you use skip option too much.

the best of Shiny Days is the MILF's , I say that !!!!

As usual - new game, new problems \o/

I'll update the thread as I find stuff and the members can post the issues they have. Also be sure to post if you find a solution to some unresolved one.

If you're reporting a new issue, please write in detail. Don't write stuff like "my game crashes, please help", provide more details and/or a screenshot of the error.

Issue #1: Movie02.gpk and Movie03.gpk installation error - Some people reported that their installation gets stuck when installing these files. This is a workaround - you need to mount Disc 1 and 2 (with Daemon Tools) and find a folder called "packs", copy (and overwrite them if needed) what's inside that folder to - C:\Overflow\SchoolDays HQ\packs (that's the default installation path, it will be located somewhere else if you choose to install the game in some other location). After that you need to add some stings to the registry (because the game creates them at the end of the installation, which didn't complete for you), otherwise you will get an error "Script version doesn’t match". Info and instructions how to add those can be found - HERE. Solution updated: Registry fix after manually moving the files added, credit goes to Smileynator and Snowbell.

Issue #2: No sound after closing/restarting the game - If you have no sound after closing the game and starting it again, there are 2 things you can do. They are similar, choose which ever is more convenient for you. Solution #1 - go to your game folder (default install folder is "C:\Overflow\SCHOOLDAYS HQ"), find and delete a file called "config.dat". You need to do this every time you start the game or the sound will be gone again. Note that you will need to re-do your in-game settings every time you start the game. Solution #2 - go to your game folder (default install folder is "C:\Overflow\SCHOOLDAYS HQ"), find a file called "config.dat". Right click on it and choose Open, a new window will pop up, choose "Select a program from a list of installed programs" and choose Notepad. It will be open up as a text file, delete all the text there and save it (File -> Save). You also need to set the config file to read-only (Right click on config.dat -> check Read-only). Note that the only thing that varies from Solution #1 is that you won't need to delete the file every time you start the game, but you will need to re-do your in-game settings each time. Update: No longer relevant, the v1.01 patch fixes this issue.

Issue #3: Game freezing in full screen mode - Some people have a problem running the game in full screen mode, it freezes frequently and they are forced to restart the game. The only workaround for now is to just play the game in windowed mode and it will run fine. Untested - Someone said that it's because of the .NET Framework 3.5 . You can find it on Disc 1 and install it, but there should be much need to do it on Windows 7 since it has it installed by default (unless you turned it off for some reason. If you did, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> on the left side click "Turn Windows features on and off" and see if Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 is checked). After that, delete the config.dat file inside your game folder, run it again and see if it freezes in full screen again. Update: Reinstalling/turning on .NET Framework 3.5 does not solve the problem. Update #2: This issue may possibly be solved by installing the v1.01 patch (didn't test it yet).

Issue #4: Black screen when opening the game - If you get a black screen when you launch the game (it may also not respond and close), you need to update your graphics drivers and it will work fine.

Issue #4a: Black screen when opening the game (with sound) - Similar problem as Issue #4, only difference is that the game doesn't crash right away and you hear the sound from the title screen. Solution - you need to mount Disc 2 and start the game with it. It should work fine with that.

Issue #5: Script version doesn’t match error when loading a save - The game freezes when trying to load a save. No solution as of yet. Note: This issue seems to occur when you copy the files manually to the game folder (if your installation freezes). Update: This is no longer relevant, solution for it is combined into Issue #1 (following those instructions will prevent it from occuring).

Issue #6: Video turns black on some parts of the game - Microsoft is to blame for this one if you've installed the latest Windows Updates. More info and solution HERE.

JAST released a v1.01 patch for School Days: it fixes a number of issues, more info about it here - School Days HQ Version 1.01 Patch

Update: JAST released a v1.02 patch for School Days: it fixes a bug that was causing widescreen mode to use the wrong resolution. Get it here - SCHOOL DAYS HQ Official Website

installation issue solution especially the 1049 issue which is most common is to click on the loading bar. Tested on windows 10 64bit and windows 7 pro 64 bit.

-------For torrented version----

So i was able to install the game. Having problems with black screen with sound, Insert Disc 2 freezes and only being able to uninstall. The two things that helped me the most to at least get the game running was first deleting the game from my registry from failed attempts. then i used winrar to open disk 1 and dragged "overflow" to my desktop (where every you want to put your game). then i used winrar again to extract disc 2 and only copied the files in "packs" (files in packs not the folder itself) i dragged those and pit it in my "packs" folder in my "overflow" folder. Finally i used Daemon tools to mount disk 2.

Game works somewhat OK, which is where i need help. Even in windowed mode my game freezes every 5-10 mins. Obviously its playable and i can save, and i can skip scenes. Just wondering if there's a fix. I have patch 1.02
