The book(s) are obviously better, it's the original work after all. I also liked the movies though, they're pretty good for being an adaption.

I was never able to understand the appeal of Clannad's or Kanon's character design. I always had the feeling that those eyes could firing their lazers at me.Anyway, I was really happy when I realized that a different artist worked on Tomoyo after. I especially liked how she mainly used intense colors and smooth lines. This way the characters are looking far more realistic. To keep it short, I finally liked the art of a game made by Key. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Music The music is totally awesome but sadly highly underrated. Especially the piano tracks were nothing but pure heaven for the ears. Actually, I'm a sucker for calm tracks and so it's not really surprising that I loved the OST of this game. Seriously, I can't remember a single track that annoyed me. Tomoya itself was exactly the guy you remember from the anime or game. He's working his ass off for Tomoyo's sake, he's friendly, a little bit perverted and tries to solve everything on his own. She was sadly pretty plain and I didn't care for her at all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Story : Part 1 - Takafumi x Kanako Where should I start? Well, Takafumi and Kanako are something like friends, or were it at least in the past. Because of some reasons Takafumi doesn't want to be in her near and usually tries to avoid her. That's all I can say without spoiling the whole problem. Let's say the route totally felt like Key. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part 2 - Tomo's Story I didn't like that part of the game at all. It seemed that the whole purpose of Tomo was to show Tomoyo's mother instincts. The story and drama didn't feel real and it was written in a weird way. This is just my opinion but Tomo's Route was mainly annoying and basically a cheap copy of Nagisa's route. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part 3 - Tomoya x Tomoyo FInally, the best part of the game. It's a little bit hard to write about it because I don't want to use any spoilers but I'll try my best. The first half of this route is nothing but decent slice of life stuff. But then, suddenly, shit happens and the game turns into an emotional rollercoaster. And dat ending was just so freaking heartbreaking that it destryoed my fragile heart. Many people don't like that ending but in my eyes it fits the whole message of this game better than the new ending. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dungeons and Takafumis If you finished the game once then you're unlocking a little RPG fighting game. It's silly and fun so check it out. You'll also get two new CGs (after completing all stages) but both of them are not really worth the trouble. If you like RPG stuff then play it, otherwise avoid it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Famous Last Words Mashiro, I love you!!! ... On the topic, I actually enjoyed the game more than I should. Then again, I really like Tomoyo and her new personality was really refreshing. I'm usually bored by long slice of life parts but not in this case. The humor was excellent, the music great, the art good and the story decent/good. And thumbs up for the ending. I've no idea who was drawing the characters and backgrounds but he/she was a freakin genius. I really love that bright and smooth style, especially the eyes. Sometimes I was staring at specific CGs or sprites just because of the art, and I'm not talking about the hentai pictures. Oh and the expressions of the characters were also well done and... ... Okay, I'll stop, the art ist awesome, that's all you've to know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Music The music is good but not outstanding. There are some great piano tracks (or the bgm at the shrine) but also a lot of decent ones. Adjusting her volume is the first thing you should do. Seriously, it's just way too loud. I've to admit that the romance in this route was quite good, but still, she's annoying as fuck. Apparently it's very essential for the true route, at least if you want to believe desi's words. Actually, I believe the whole game is mainly about the awesome art characters and not about the story itself.
