  1. Been Playing Ever 17 for a day now, done two routes: Tsugumi and You's.

For me it seemed epic from the get-go, I mean the story is amazing. Desi is perfectly right in regards to plot twists. Some of the moments were totally "Oh my god, why?!"

Oh man, you didn't even see the major plot twists yet :p Wait until the true route, bricks will be shat.

  2. I was thinking about purchasing this. Looks like the game + extra stuff like the artbook and soundtrack that I probably won't listen to anyways is on sale for $28 on amazon. Definitely looks pretty unique. Might bite on it, we'll see.

  3. Hm yeah that points to where I was confused about... I was thinking, do I extract everything from each part into one place? But then if I do that, won't i can a replacing message or w/e since they all have the same name? So yeah sorry to be real dumb at this.. (honestly I'm grateful and I hate to waste your time) but how exactly does it work with the extracting?

No problem, I'm in the shoutbox right now. I think I can help you better there. Just shout out something and i'll respond.

  4. Yeah I looked there but I literally don't see anything... theres nothing there. Im sure I mounted it, though. To break it down I literally went on daemon tools, clicked add image, chose the syarin.ISO from part 1, (its in a folder with the other syarin.MDS file) and clicked mount. But yeah I don't think anything happened...

If you extracted the files from the 6 parts, you don't choose the .iso file from part 1. After extracting the files, the .iso file should be in the folder that you extracted to. So when you go to mount the image, you'll see an actual .iso file that you have to choose and not a .iso file from part 1.

  5. I extracted with winrar and put it into a folder, but yeah when I tried to mount the syarin.ISO nothing happens, so I checked right now in the folder but I don't see any setup or any difference... so it didn't get mounted or something? Edit: since you said to look into computer and not the folder itself (just making sure) don't see it there

Just click the start logo and click on computer. Look at the "Devices with removable storage". One of them should say syarin, which is the .ISO file that you mounted. Just double click that.

  6. Did you extract the 6 parts using an extraction tool like Winrar? Extract the first part and select "extract here" or a folder at your chosen location. Use daemon tools and mount the .iso file and a window should pop up. If it doesn't, just go to start - computer - and you should see the disc that got mounted.. just click on that and launch set up that way (if a window didn't pop up when you first mounted the .iso file) After going through the installation, just download the patch and drag the patch file to where your game is installed(which will be under program files)

  7. Generally when it comes to VN's I care more for plot than I do for actual H, I am not adverse to the occasional dark story as long as it is well written. Character Traits, I like characters that have both a stupid side (Airheadedness) and a Amazing side. Also kinda like the cutesy moe-esque characters

Ef A Fairy Tale of the Two and Ever17 are two that I can recommend. The first one takes you through the eyes of different protagonists. Great music and some of the best dialogue I've seen in a VN so far. Ever17 is another great VN. No h-scenes, but it has romance. However, the real reason to play Ever17 is the great twists along the way that you see in the true route. Check them both out.

  8. Sorry but no. I've played the clean version. I could tell each and every time when there should have been a sex scene. And at the time I couldn't figure out why there wasn't one, I played half the game thinking, well maybe I just haven't gotten to the adult parts yet. Then I did some research and found out about things like the evil route and such that were totally dropped for the clean version. The non-h version has LESS than the full game, I don't know where you think it adds extra, but from what I researched that was the opposite. I've seen the adult CG from the h version, but I want to read and experience the full game, not play some censored hack job and guess at the adult bits someone left out. I likely would have been less jaded if I didn't spend like a week playing it without knowing it was censored, as I really enjoyed the gameplay and story in ignorance before learning about the censorship.

This is a bit of a different topic, but like most VNs the sex scene really doesn't add to the story. Okay, so maybe the evil route was removed... from what I've heard,

it's just him raping a bunch of people.

I'm not sure where you researched, but the Non-H version is definitely the one with more content and it's more polished. It has better art style than the original and the Tokimi and Kyouko routes are translated.

Copied and pasted this of the list of features:

    - Revamps the battle system (including character portraits)

    - Adds two routes (Tokimi, Kyouko)

    - Adds all of the subspirit scenes (as well as their sprites)

    - Adds a bunch of new scenes throughout the game, including in subsequent playthroughs

    - Censors some CGs (There is a patch that will uncensor them)

    - Removes H content which did not contribute to the story anyway

This is not a post to suggest that censorship is okay. I too would have liked everything available on one VN, but the Non-H version has more content.

  9. Eien no Aselia however needs to go die in a whole, since the translators refuse to translate the sex scenes, making the game blatently boring and tedious.

That's an odd way of looking at things. The non H version is definitely the superior version of the game. It adds new routes, extra scenes, and has better art style than the original. The h-scenes really don't contribute to the story in any way. If you want, I'm sure you can download the 18+ version and look at the scenes... you probably won't need much translation.

  10. Alright thanks not sure what all the mounting means but I'm sure I can get it working, I'll try it later and reply if there are any issues (hopefully not) ^^

The tutorial I linked will explain it. If you still need help, don't hesitate to post.

  11. Hey first time downloading an eroge, I downloaded School Days and got a Disc 1 and Disc 2 file. Basically since I've never downloaded a game before or anything, I don't really know what to do. Can someone help me? I have no idea what I'm suppose to do with it :/.

Just use a program like Daemon tools and mount disc one. Usually a pop up window will show up and you can start installing it... in the middle of installation, it'll probably tell you to put in Disc 2... this is where you unmount Disc 1 and mount Disc 2. It'll finish installation and you can run the .exe and start playing... unless you run into one of the issues mentioned in the first post.

    Short tutorial here.

  12. I apologize if this has already been posted, I searched the thread but didn't find anything. I have the game patched with 1.2 but it's cutting off really long sentences. I have to look in the log in order to see the full conversation. Is there a way around this?

This is a known issue that can't be fixed....the translator decided not to fix this issue. Pretty much just have to deal with it.

EDIT: @Otamegane, it happens with their font as well... there is no workaround.

  13. From my understanding, NNL put a bunch of memes and other things in Ef Lite to be playful, and the MG release will have the actual translations instead of the meme phrases.

I don't think there were many. Maybe a few instances.

I remember in one bad ending

After finishing the bad ending in the first tale in Kei's route, you saw a famous Willy Wonka video saying "you lose", etc.

Other than that, there maybe have been a few "memefied" sentences, but nothing too out of the ordinary.

  14. Well, I only watched the first season of Ef and since you guys are calling the second season terrible I think I'll just play the VN instead of continuing the anime.

The second season isn't terrible, but they messed up a big and emotional part of it. I would play and finish the VN first.

  15. Is there going to be a english patch? This game is really nice.

Doubt it, at least not any time soon. There are sites which can let you know if a translation is taking place. VNTL Status Tracker which lets you know about new projects and the progress of the projects. VNDB, a VN database which shows you a comprehensive list of visual novels and also lets you know if an english patch is available or in progress of a certain VN, and our very own VN translation status updated weekly on the forum.
