It was the second or third VN I'd read (It was suggested by the Katawa Shoujo devs as a VN similar to what they were trying to make), and it gave me a wonderful early impression of the medium.

Out of curiosity, have you read Yume Miru Kusuri? I wonder where on the spectrum of "porn vs. plot" that VN would fall, in your opinion.

I tend to judge VNs based on how much of an immediate emotional impact they have. Given that I'm very prone to fits of melodrama, I'm not very critical at all.

Not at all. I didn't even know they existed before, but when I read KS, I found that I really enjoyed the story, and wanted more.

Saya no Uta. Excellent, although the H-scenes were a little incongruous (even if they were necessary). It was easily one of my favorite VNs along with Narcissu and Clannad, and I ended up writing ten pages waxing philosophic about the nature of humanity and beauty as connected to SnU. Am currently two-thirds of the way done with F/SN, and I really enjoy the story. Now that I think about it, I don't really dislike any VN I've read. Well, whatever.
