Quite a few people care about QA. You'd be surprised at the stuff that gets caught in that phase. It's worth it to take just a little bit extra time to deliver the best quality you can. Even if you'd still enjoy a patch without QA, you'd enjoy one that went through QA even more. Have some patience.

The not-so-secret secret about Seinarukana is that it has actually been fully translated for over a year now. I'm serious. It's been public knowledge for something like eight months, too, the person doing this on 4chan just never updated the status for whatever dumb reason. hyromaru, you missed both Hanahira and Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete.

They've actually slowed down a lot. Daito's pace is a lot more surprising, apparently a 1500 line week is considered slow by the single translator working on it. The quality was actually surprisingly fine as well, considering the insane pace. Also, some people were concerned about cut content in Starless in last week's thread. JAST has stated that they will release a patch to restore the cut content. I'm not sure on the specific reasons, but it seems they want to dodge some legal gray areas. As far as I know, it's a fan project, so it will be a free translation patch.

I think he has something like five completed yet unreleased translations at this point. It doesn't help that he exclusively does gameplay VNs which are trickier to hack. Good news that one of them is coming out in a couple weeks.

Blizzard... they'll announce a release date for an update and then literally wait until 23:59 on that day to release it. Whether or not they'll be successful isn't really the question. The game actually has been in an unusually long beta test period, for most of 2014. It's unusual enough that it's trying a lot of the team members' patience, some have complained about it on IRC. They thought it was ready for release many months ago... Keep in mind that JAST doesn't seem to pay out to team members until a game is shipped. Seinarukana's translation actually finished over a year ago. It also finished editing and QC quite some time ago. It has been in an endless testing/bugfixing phase where JAST insists on fixing every little problem with it, even a ton that were in the original Japanese release. So I guess expect it to be extremely polished when it releases in five years.

Interesting note is that DC3 progress went backwards this week. Apparently they discovered like 5000 new lines in the game.

Eustia is one thing, it's linear and story driven. Stopping even at the end of the Fione route is going to give the reader severe blueballs because there is very little closure. A lot of moege that gets partial patches are fine because there is no overarching story you're missing out on. You read the couple routes that are translated, and it feels like you're not missing much. Yoake falls into that category. Still, I'd like the complete translation some time, but somehow it stalled at the final stage. It's really unfortunate because it's probably the least difficult stage of translation.

Yes, there's a definite August curse. Daito is showing really promising progress right out of the gate, though, so hopefully it won't fall victim to the curse.

Additional Kotori news: Pabloc finally finished TLCing/editing the Kotori route for the If My Heart Had Wings restoration patch. If you hear him tell it, it was pretty much a complete retranslation because moenovel's work was so bad. I don't think he plans on releasing any partial patches though. Also, it sounds like his motivation levels are really low, so this one is still going to take a while. One route down, 3.5 to go...
