These new creepy sprites could definitely be better than their PS2 equivalents. I mean... that smiling Rena face is a pretty big change from her normal face (which is a good thing). The eyes in the first season of the anime don't look the same either - they're more cat-like. Kizuna is also pretty different from the Matsuri (PS2) eyes... those Kizuna ones might just be the best, at least as far as being unsettling goes. But this is potentially a different kind of creepy. These have more colour in them... or shadow... whatever. A bit more on the crazy/manic side maybe (the more visibile smile and the lines under her eyes adds to that effect) Whether that's actually a good thing or not in the end, we'll see in the game when it's released, 'cause that's the only time one can be sure. The PS2 eyes are very menacing though, yes. And that's appropriate of course.
