This is very true. You could always think of the short-life span elf, or fallen angel, or ugly mermaid etc. To eliminate traditional issues with these races, but I think the intent here was to go with more established legends for each. The drizzt do'urden heroic pc factor: Not every dark elf is a friendly hero, so don't expect to make a drow character that is all the time. (Yay for nerdy tabletop reference) Also, thinking on the races list again, Yukionna should be there as well. If I were going to freeze to death... that's the way I'd want to go. ^.^

I always tend to think of the movie SPLASH when I think of mermaid lore in a reasonable way. Human when dry, fish when wet. Bit aloof from normal humans, able to allow humans to breathe underwater etc etc.

I used to read the Negima manga for the longest time. And I've watched close to half a dozen Negima anime series. And all of them make stuff up, or use a different storyline completely to the main storyline in the manga. I've not however read the end of the manga, so I can't say one way or the other about plot holes and unfinished stories. I suppose I'll probably check it out once I feel in a manga mood. -
I believe the term you want is Kitsune. As to other races: If you split up monster girls you'll get tons: harpies, lamia, centaur, slimes, arachne The demon/devil catagory could also be expanded to add undead: vampires, ghosts, zombies You could also include all the Kemonomimi: dog ears, bunny ears, along with the fox ears and cat ears as the common ones, there are less common ones like deer ears, sheep horns, or fish fins. I'd add in a mechanical option as well, like a Golem Girl, Cyborg or Robot. These are soo under-rated.

All good things eventually have an end. I remember when anime and manga never lasted more than one or so year and things wrapped up in an expected end. Maybe with negima ending they will actually make a decent anime of it. Seems like they keep making random crap and trying to call it something even close to the story. -

I voted cat. And here's why. Elves are known to live extremely long lives. At best you will die early leaving her alone. At worst she's been alive for decades and will school you most of the time in wisdom. Angels worry me about purity. There's an idea behind having a partner that eventually comes down to sex, and having sex with an angel always feels quite wrong to me. Even though there are several angels in eroge that I quite enjoyed. Devils/Demons have the same issue, but on the opposite end. I could never really trust a demoness that she wasn't going to kill me and eat my heart or

We could always start a 'real girl a day' thread, I'd probably post in it as well. Though I still tend to lean towards Asians, there are some amazingly hot asian supermodels. And just like here, there are always personal tastes and pics that are good, or bad because of them. I saw the episode was subbed and read the plot blurb. It didn't seem to have much of a pull to me. A bit too much slice of life trying to be the Hardy Boys to me. Then again mystery has never really been a genre I enjoy. I might check it out later, but for now it's a pass for me. (Sorry this post isn't helping much)

I believe I read somewhere that age 15 is the upper cut off for Shonen anime, above that it is supposed to head into Seinen. I think as a genre it's quite broad, and really it only talks about what ages the show or manga is targeted for. We can assume that typical shonen anime is the big battle anime like dragonball z, bleach, naruto and one piece, but there are several others that one might not think as Shonen that are, like Death Note, Mirai Nikki, Bakuman, and quite a bit of ecchi shows as well.

Shōnen (少年?), shonen, or shounen, is a Kanji word literally meaning few years and generally referring to a typical boy, from elementary school through grade school age. It is used in everyday conversation when referring to the period of youth, including in legal wording referencing youth, without regard to gender. Shōnen manga is a popular demographic of Japanese comics, the most popular genre of which is battle manga which is generally about action/fighting but often contains a sense of humor and strong growing friendship-bonds between the characters. Yay for google and wikipedia.

Yeah, I'd have to jump on the One Piece bandwagon here. I really do enjoy the show quite a bit. Even as silly as it gets sometimes there's good solid lore behind things, and many of the characters have a decent depth to them. I have been watching the new version of Hunter x Hunter, that seems fairly decent. Other Shonen I like/d quite a bit were: Fullmetal Alchemist, Fairy Tail(still watching though I'm behind), History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi(waaay behind on the manga), and Shaman King, along with younger anime shows like Digimon, Pokemon, and Yugi-oh(These young shows I tend to like

Yep, I understand. Personally I think Hanako's route(and even Lily's to some extent) were more about developing the main character than changing the heroines. The other three routes seemed to focus more on the girls. Hanako seems that weak little puppy that needs protecting, but in reality she's amazingly strong in her own way.
Emi's route was fun, and I enjoyed it, but it didn't seem to have the same sort of depth those two had. The last two: Rin and Shizune... those two felt unfinished at best, they just left me feeling very unsatisfied.

You must be a dog lover, eh? Patience is a virtue. Though after checking out vndb's cover art, my hopes for this are on a slim rope. Usually games with that openly slutty artwork on the cover don't have a strong enough story to hold it up.

Yep, Lilly would be my favorite girl. Hanako... well she didn't feel right to me. It felt more like the mc was causing more harm than good most of the time in her route. And I think she ended up better in Lilly's route in the end, than with her best ending on her own route. Still achingly cute though, with the shyness and white-knight pull.
