  1. wow, really. I voted on instinct and my first gut reaction, and I'm the only one who chose robot. XD Ahh Nano-Beta, how I miss thee... *cough* Anyway, felt that the robot choice here was a bit more interesting than the others, but to be honest I tend to lean towards the shy quiet types. A psychologist could probably make a fortune trying to figure out just exactly why.
  2. On a side note, I really want to play the full adult version of Aselia. Really wish it would get translated someplace. /derail.
  3. So, when thinking about visual novels there are three factors that I tend to rate the basics of an eroge on. This isn't as much stuff like CGs and characters or music. Those are important of course, but I think everyone will agree that they should always be there(music is optional of course). The three factors I'm talking about are story, H-content, and gameplay. I think the best outcome is a good balance between the three, but for this poll I'd like to think about the extremes. Maybe some of us aren't as interested in the story, if the H is really strong, or maybe we only need gameplay if
  4. Thankyee. :) I do try. Mostly just blathering on though.

  5. I definitely fall into the 'far too much of a critic' category. If I like something, I try and explain why, same goes for if I don't. It's like some part of me feels that others(online anyway) might want to read my thoughts and use it to help them choose if they want to experience it or not. And at the same time, I'm interested in what others think, to compare my thoughts to them. It's odd really, I don't feel the same sort of compulsion to write a review after seeing a movie or finishing a normal game. Maybe it has something to do with the emotional build up a good Visual Novel tends to br
  6. I think visual novels are traditionally considered a solo activity. I know not every VN is adult rated, but the stereotype says there's a high probability. With the way the games straddle(no pun intended) that line between porn and 'acceptable' media, the stigmata that we have as a species and our modern cultures keep us from discussing our games to people we know in real life. Maybe it might come up in a serious romantic atmosphere like a date, where I was trying to learn about someone else and they me, but just like sexual fetishes, it's not really something I would bring up in casual con
  7. This is an extremely difficult question the more I think about it, the less sure I am that I have any sort of answer. There are ideas and aspects of games and anime that I love, but finding something truly 'original' and unique is much harder than one might think at first glance. I suppose something along the lines of Akikan might fit the bill in the absurdity department. The idea of drinking containers turning into girls is pretty original and out there...
  8. Everyone has their own personal likes and dislikes. I think Katawa is so good to me because of how much it made me think about something I'm not very familiar with at all. The typical slice of life genre usually ends up being boring to me. I don't watch much anime of that type, and manga with that as the theme just bores me to tears. I think it was a combination of the thought process behind putting myself into the main character's position(Health has never been my strong point), the good music, and the girls themselves, that really kept me interested. I won't lie, it was the disabilities o
  9. I agree with this. Assuming you're talking about Rin's route. I actually kept her for last since I loved her carefree and fun introduction in act 1. However, the rest of her plot didn't go the way I expected and ended up being a bit of a let down(still seemed better than Shizune's route though).
  10. I agree that Sophie from Harem Party can be annoying, that voice alone makes me want to drag my fingernails over a chalkboard to drown it out. I can also understand Chousen as a canidate for the list. However the one that imediately comes to mind to me is the Amira from Monster Girl Quest. Not only is she a reverse naga lamia or whatever, but she's drawn like a 2 yr old, keeps getting thrown into your face all the time, and she's not even funny. The game takes some focus to get into for me in the first place, and everytime that thing shows up it really throws me off. -.-
  11. Wow, people are quick here. I was all copy paste the other thread, then move to post, and two other people have ninjaed already.
  12. Personally I'd be interested in seeing more Seinen stuff as eroge. Such as xxxholic. While I agree with others that Negima, Index and even Bleach could make some very good ones, if done properly. If they just end up re-hashing the story from the show(like most games made about movies or tv shows) I'd have to pass.
  13. I've watched both seasons of this, and if/when it comes back I'll watch more. I quite liked it, but was disappointing at how preachy it becomes at points in the 2nd season. Kemia was all but a real Kami in the first season, using his mind and VN experience to guide real life situations. He had a good grasp of the difference btween reality and games, and just preferred the games. However in the 2nd season they decided this wasn't realistic or something, and so had the viewers be bombarded with how horrible it was that he played these games all the time, and how he was just killing himself b
  14. I've been an eroge fan for a while now, and for the longest time I didn't even know what that word meant. I remember back in the day playing a game called Everquest in college that was this new type of game called mmorpg. I went home for the holidays one year in the early 2000's and my younger brother let me use his computer to play the game over the holiday. Installed on his computer was a game called May Club, and I started playing it late at night when the family had all gone to bed and I had nothing else to do. I ended up buying the 2-cd milky way collection from JAST USA around a year
  15. I actually also just finished Katawa. Emi's route was very awesome, but I still prefer Lilly. I agree that while I liked Shizune's look(black lingerie ) her personality really clashed, and the route didn't seem to go into her disability or any 'darkness' to explain her personality that I was expecting. Maybe that's a good thing for some, but it made her path seem quite flat to me after playing through a couple others first. Overall I quite enjoyed Katawa, The music was great, even though it got a bit repetitive, the characters and storylines were quite awesome, and the disabilities were
  16. Greetings everyone. My name is Haika Unekaru, I also sometimes am known as Joyeux, Madwand, or Larryihatechu(my youtube and let's play account). I am over 3 decades old, live in wisconsin USA, deal with my fair share of medical issues(gives me tons of time for these otaku-type stuff) and tend not to like giving a full bio of my real life info. Seems I am a bit late to the party here, but I did notice the forums from the erogedownloads home page when I was checking for anything new. I've played quite a few Eroge lately, seen a ton of anime, and read a fair bit of manga online to boot. Curre
