So, the anime is running strong. At least to fans of the manga like myself. Figured I'd toss up a discussion thread for the show, and see what other people think. We are up to the 2nd episode as of this post, and I think things are moving along nicely. For the most part things are keeping to the manga. The stuff about her family came later. I suppose it doesn't hurt too much here though. The /fun/ starts at the end of next episode. So it will probably be episode 4 by the time things get really interesting. They are really taking their time with things, and matching up with the manga wonderfully(though I miss the nude of Wanko in the bath *cough*). There's a good sense of impending doom. And while I don't want to spoil anything, a certain image in this episode was great foreshadowing for those of us who know what happens. I do however miss the inner monologue of the main character. After he drops her off into the poisonous bushes around her home, he thought the line as a narrator 'this was my last chance to save her.' as he rode the bike off into the moonlight. That was always an awesome piece of imagery to me. Oh well, nothing to do but wait for next week. Attaching the aforementioned nude image. As much ecchi as they still left in, nothing wrong with appreciating what they didn't show. ^.^

This was actually one of the first full on eroge I played. Before this I only read visual novels. The gameplay here is extreme and would hold it's own even without the story or hentai elements(and both those are quite nice). I would warn you however, out of the games I've played, both this and Big Bang Age, have a very steep difficulty even on the lowest setting. A walkthrough is recommended if you are a completionist and want to see all the story options and h-scenes.

Lesse where to begin. I have a slight pain in my gut, dealing with pressure there from lunch. My legs are a bit sore from walking just a tiny bit yesterday. My mouth is a bit cotton-y even though I've been sipping ice water some today. There's migraine pressure in the top of my head, and my neck is sore from sleeping a bit too much. My nose is filled with gunk and occasionally making me sneeze. I can't blow it because my recent blood pressure has been high and I'll get a bloody nose if I do, so there's some stress there to add to everything else. It's also rather chilly in here, not really in a bad way, but I am wrapped up in a thick comforter blanket. Other than that, I feel peachy. All in all though, I feel pretty normal today, at least for me.

... Wow, I'm such a pervert, even with that hated character. XD My mind so did not drift to 'mouth' when I first read that...

I think the majority of users here are male, and thus will gravitate to a sister. I personally chose that choice, excluding a neither option, because a quiet, shy girl can really get the white knight emotions going strong. At the same time, there are sisters in VN's like Chinami that I just want to strangle. So I think it really comes down to the personality of said sister. As a male protecting a younger brother seems a bit off... I suppose this is cultural with the whole idea of men needing to stick up for themselves and such. Plus younger brothers tend to be more annoying to a male MC than anything else.

I agree that loli and watermellon pictures are a bit too blunt for my own tastes(with a few exceptions). Hopefully anything I post here will be a bit more subtle and 'normal'. Everyone has their own tastes. and you don't have to look if you don't want to. The little icons are hard to make out on their own anyway. But I think it's all in good fun, and fits in well with the theme of the forums. My only issue will be resisting posting a pic more than once a day, heh.

I'd play this, but it's the same pvp web game that you can find in 100 other websites, just using the Koihime theme. I'd rather go play the VN itself over again.

Yeah, I have to admit. Chinami needs to be mentioned here. I've completely stalled playing Hoshizora because of her. I may get back to it later, but for now. Yeah she's pretty bad.

The one voice I vaguely remember that was so off was for the female version of Lu Bu. The way the names changed from the original ROtTK keeps me from remembering many of the character specific names, but I seem to think that particular one was especially off. They gave her this really high pitched girly voice, and it just didn't fit her character at all. To this day I imagine her having a quiet, sultry, even boyish voice. Some high pitched helium sounding thing totally didn't fit. Tried looking for an example on youtube, and couldn't find it. From either the voiced game or the anime. And it's been a while since I played, so I could be totally wrong in my memory, but short of downloading the voice patch just to check(I'm lazy), I'll just go with what my gut remembers.

I've tried the voice patch for this game a while ago, and frankly I wasn't impressed. I don't know if this new 'official' voice acting is any better, but I doubt it. To me the characters have different voices than they were given in the first patch and anime, so I didn't really like playing with the voices. Might just be a personal preference thing. Also I wonder if the voices were added during H-scenes in this new version.

Yeah... Big bang age really is brutal at times keeping people alive. I had trouble with Sengoku Rance as well, the time limits they impose make the games very stressful, and one wrong move can really screw you over. Just started Tears to Tiara tonight though, and so far it's looking quite good.

To be honest, I'm more concerned about the problems with the skip function, than I am about reading spoilers. Anyone found a fix yet? I haven't gotten to the point of needing it, but in a game where you have to complete a route to unlock other routes, having a broken skip function is going to be very frustrating.

Sankarea Review time: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm, the whole Zombie fetish wasn't just about 'romance' like they've pushed here. It was just a general zombie fetish, the 'romance' part was inferred, but not bluntly announced like the first few moments here. This seems to make it a bit more creepy than the manga, at least to me. And I remember that Rea's clothes seemed much darker, and more Goth-like. Maybe the anime is trying to emphasis that she's still alive, but only time can prove how that turns out. Also in a random, but not really bad note, They increased Rea's bust size. >.> This may change as things continue, but in the manga part of her character was a nearly skeletal skinniness. Other than that this episode follows the first chapter quite well. I suppose I can approve of how things turned out, as long as things stick to little superficial changes and the important stuff stays the same. It will be interesting to see how much ecchi and gore is allowed in the anime compared to the manga as well, the little we see of Babu's bandages show no blood, so I'm thinking that it may be a bit censored at the very least. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I've said before, I'm waiting for Sankarea. It's been one of my favorite manga for a while now. So far this season I've sampled Accel World, and a strange one called Shirokuma Cafe. I didn't think Accel World was that bad of a concept, but there are a few things there that may keep it from being very good. It has a campy younger audience feel to it that reminds me of the first time I watched Digimon or Yugioh. That sense of mysticism and adventure without being too serious that the first couple of seasons those long running anime series had. Many reviews and places I've read seem to have an issue with how the main character is drawn as a short chubby guy, in basically a different art style than just about everyone else. I don't mind this as much as the fact that he willingly uses a pig avatar in a second-life or .hack virtual world instead of something decent. Either way the core of the show seems to be the typical fighting in virtual space type thing with duels that remind me very much of Yugioh with elements of .hack thrown in. Shirokuma Cafe is something totally different, and not listed here actually. Polar Bear Cafe. The story of a random slice of life type comedy anime, where humans and animals walk, talk, and intermingle at a cafe. It's quite odd, but at the same time I've seen much much worse. My first impressions here are good for this being a replacement for that sort of relaxed humor I've gotten from shows like Lucky Star, K-On!, and last season's Kill Me Baby.

Yes. I think it's more the MC's fault than Chinami's though. He lets her do it, and keeps letting her do it. I'd have blown up ages ago, and sunk some sense into her skull. I'm trying to play both this and Kira Kira as I get back into VN's, and the Chinami stuff has me playing more KiraKira tonight even though it seems like much more reading.

Ok, please please tell me this speeds up. I've been playing this game for nigh on 7 hours now, and all I know is tidbits of the wtf 'shinigami' and that I want to encase the MC's sister in cement and drop her into the Bay. Most of the time is spent on the comedy routine with the sister. I'm fine with having a sister like that be a route heroine and all that, but I haven't even gotten to a single choice yet. So it's a bit draining on me.

I actually liked Yayoi's route quite a bit. Guitar Princess Powah. And I agree, Kanade's ending seemed a bit too... standard happy ending. If that makes any sense.

Alrighty, 11 days later and I am finally out of the hospital. However, Healthy activity in that area of my body is a bit strenuous at the moment, so I'm a bit wary about playing more of this right away. And Frankly I'm not really in the mood after so long. So I may have to put this on the back burner for a bit, and go try something else. I'm thinking perhaps Kira Kira that I finally got downloaded and working.
