Heya my fellow Eroge gamers, having a bit of Insomnia tonight(this morning at this point), and not really having anyone else to chat with or discussing some things that have been floating about in this odd balloon of grey matter I call a brain, I figure I'll write a bit here. Going to be very rambling, and probably with multiple random points that make little sense. So either skip it, or forgive me for what the lack of sleep makes me do. So, I have been spending some of the night over on mangahere, looking at popular manga, and trying to find a couple new ones to read and enjoy. Nothing too serious mind you, my brain has been in vegetable mode for a while now. First I found this odd little gem called Onepunch-Man. A super hero and seinen twist on the typical superpower fantasy genre. It has a little bit of preachyness in the a fact of, you can be this strong just by simply training yourself and not giving up, Yada yada. However, the part that I really love is the sheer overpowered nature of the main character. I've realized that I quite enjoy two types of main character. The ones who are stupidly strong to the point of either hiding their power causing hyjinks, or the ones who are so apathetic about everything, that when they do get serious it blows any opposition out of the water. Trigun, and even Naruto to some extent fall into the first category, while my favorite character in any of these media Mr Irresponsible Captain Tylor is a prime example of the second. The apathetic nature of both the MC in Clannad, and Shaman King also come to mind. Aside from getting off topic slightly, like I knew I would, I finished up the 20 released chapters of onepunch, and wanted to find something more, thus I started reading Trinity Seven. This is a magic school harem anime, that seems pretty cliche in the likes of Negima, and some of the Demon King themes that several anime have had. But the thing I like here, is again the main character. He just seems so much more calm about things he knows he can't change, plenty of pervyness(It is an ecchi harem genre after all), and even a couple situations with girls wanting him to do H-stuff that he *gasp* reasonably turns down without blushing and acting like an idiot ala typical harem protagonists. It really is a rather refreshing idea. A harem guy who has a healthy sex drive, has interest in the girls around him, and a borderline apathetic nature that keeps him rather calm and composed in many situations. This especially is touching when I've been struggling with how Rewrite's main character has such a strong sense of slapstick dumb and dumber style idiocy. It all just adds to a rather frustrating week. Been feeling a rather annoying sinus head cold, and the weather here has been in the single digits F. I made a resolution to walk for exercise each day this year, and haven't missed a single day yet. However, numb legs, freezing cheeks, and picking ice nuggets out of my mustache after a walking set have become routine. In other news, I started trying out a flash/facebook game called Wartune over on armor games. An MMORPG, with some strong sim build elements, sounds good in theory, but when you realize the game is more about begging you for money, and slamming down the limit chains if you don't it becomes old quick. Along with that I'm dealing with a depressive set of flame wars on my anime site over signature contests of all things. Though, that's an interesting idea, I wonder how many people here would be interested in having an Ero Signature making contest. In the other site they post the winning signature on the front page as a reward. The issue is however the style of the signatures and the tone of the community about it. 90% of the signatures submitted are using Photoshop cliches like lens flairs, and random artistic swirls over a themed render. I've tried making a number of signatures with different styles, and have only once come close to being complimented(on a F/SN signature of all things: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r115/jdcarnahan/battlesigdone.png) I also made my signature here of course. Lilly [spoiler=Some examples of my other creations, made by fooling around in Gimp for fun:] Not sure why I feel the need to seek recognition here of all places, I'm no graphic design expert, and each of these has little flaws to them that I see when I look back at them. But at the same time, I still feel a bit of pride at the results of my enjoying my time editing pictures and putting things together in interesting ways. I guess that's why the flame wars and trolls in the other community getting all up in my grill saying I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to art, and how my honest opinion shouldn't have been said(I called their lens flare and CD4 overuse artistic vomit, and have explained it about 20 times over the past year I've been participating in that section of the forum). Annnd now I realise I'm bringing a flame topic over here for people to argue about. >. This long random topicness has been brought to you by insomina. Now in facial creme. Having trouble staying interested in Rewrite. There's such a potential for greatness, and I can see flashes of seriousness, but the amount of high school situational comedy forest mammoth crap I have to shovel through to get there is really straining. And I don't even get a 'reward' of any H-scenes. So yeah, bit of a struggle.

I expected a Your Mamma Joke here. XD But yes, I remember when I started this thread. Glad we finally got the spoiler tags. Very useful in a forum.

Argh, I'm about ready to shoot myself, every time the MC of rewrite goes to the cafeteria. I don't know if it's the violence, or the utter stupidity of both the main character, and this Class Rep girl, but these segments piss me off to no end. [spoiler=For those who haven't played yet, skip this part] I don't understand the whole licking the plate thing. There's a level of stupidity that I can take, and then there's this. In the other segments, sure, he's be a bit absent minded, and silly at times, but it seem like when it comes to a flag with this class rep girl, he becomes some gibbering idiot who can't understand sit-com level reality. Maybe it's a fetish thing for the japanese, licking someone else's plate, I just find that gross, and unneeded. The point is just to taste the stuff, but because these segments are about 110% silliness they go for the worst possible outcome(him getting abused, even though in other segments he's shown abilities decent enough, but not in this segment, nooooo...). Argh, just Argh. I haven't raged like this about a VN in a long time. I'm only 2 segments in on this stupid switch of personality for the main character. I can tell they are trying to get something similar to Tomoyo. But it's SO not the same, and I'm not even a crazy Tomoyo fanboy... If more of this girl's scenes are like this, I'm going to be damn tempted not to forcibly skip the stupidity.

Was tempted to vote Kira Kira here, but since I haven't really gotten into it as much, went with the obvious. Fuko powah!

I suppose this particular game has it's own circumstances, Info like that is important, and if you read this Ivan, might want to make a note in that game's info.

Rose Guns Days isn't a full patch? Really a bit strange that it was added here, and nothing in the update post says anything about it being partial? I don't really have a huge interest in that particular game, but it worries me that games going up here are going up with partial translations, and nothing saying as much. I don't want to download something that's partial thinking it's fully translated...

Ahem. Cherries. Need I say more? XD Barely even started and I'm quite enjoying this. It does seem VERY similar to clannad though, with the exception of the main character's overthinking obsession with making friends. Also, The other male student is basically Sunohara with a different hairstyle at this point...

I don't know about your connection, but 9 hours for 6 Gig is pretty darn good. Took me all weekend to get it, but starting it tonight!

well, I'm on part 22 of 33, 34 if you count the English patch on downloading Rewrite. I keep trying to go back and finish up Clannad before it finishes, but I'm hitting a brick wall. The enthusiasm I had for the game back in December has faded, and it just seems boring to me. I've gone through most of the routes, having only the Sunohara route, and Nagisa routes left, if I could ever finish up this route with Kotomi(Every time I hear that name, I think of some creepy priest guy from Fate). I just don't feel interested in Clannad like I was before, and I know with rewrite there are some strong supernatural, mystery and fantasy elements that interest me quite a bit. And if I finish downloading that, I will want to play it, and thus I feel like Clannad is stalling out on me... It makes me feel like I'm abandoning a sick puppy...(mostly Nagisa).

Ooph... Episode 4 didn't work for me at all. It seemed very boring. I was hoping things would follow Hero more, instead we get some washed out build up of points we have already been introduced to. It feels like it was just stretching out what could have been done in a few minutes. There are times when I wish there was more than what those two gif's above are showing, but really, I'm having a hard time thinking why else I'm still watching this.

heh, That about sums this series up yep. Aside from that, it has an interesting theory about perpetual war and economy, as well as a storybook flavor to both the art and the whole series(People don't have names, only jobs). But yes, it's mostly about Scarlet's tits. Let's be honest.

[spoiler=Episode 3:] This show has always been such an odd one. I'm pretty sure I like it, but there's so much going on, and it has that feel that you shouldn't take ANY of this craziness at face value. They even explained a reason why the brother keeps his face covered. And the bit at the end about Sasami talking to Sasami or whatever is odd as well(I'm guessing they mean the sealed personality or whatever that arm was, maybe?). Guess we have to wait and see what episode 4 has in store.

Egads, 6GB... welp this weekend's internet usage is going to be shot... ^.^ Even so, still looking forward to trying this one out, even if it is All Ages.

Welp, haven't watched the 3rd episode yet, but I have been watching this, and enjoying it more than I thought. I'll go ahead and repost the thoughts I had on the first couple of episodes here. [spoiler=First Impressions on Episode 1:] It reminds me quite a bit of FLCL, it has that strange borderline randomness that will likely never be explained, but has enough of a touch of reality to it, that it's hard to dismiss as total stupidity. I didn't find it nearly as bad as I expected, it all worked, even with the randomness. Even the slightly washed out pastels of the background reminded me of FLCL's style, certain background things were almost depected as oil paintings slowly melting in the sunlight. And that's pretty strong imagry, intended or not. It left me with some very obvious questions, like what the hell is up with the brother hiding his face. Or what exactly happened with the whole chocolate thing, is Sasami dreaming all of this? How are those three involved, basically I sat there with a big question mark floating above my head as the end theme played... and I have to admit, I want to see more. [spoiler=First Impressions on Episode 2:] Wow, I was totally expecting more randomness with no explanation at all. There's actually a story going on here, based in some sort of supernatural system. I hope they keep up this explanation bits in her reports, maybe even coming to some sort of resolution as the episodes go on. Though I don't have a whole lot of faith. Assuming any of this can be believed and they don't just turn it into some sort of hallucination by Sasami, and preach against being unmotivated.

Yeah, I'm a bit behind in the manga, but it's still going, if a bit slow. Monthly manga always frustrate me so, really annoying to wait 4 weeks instead of just one. As to the anime, like what was said, not sure they green lit the third season or not. [spoiler=Off topic rant about copyright and exclusivity] About scanlators not wanting their releases on online readers: that just makes me want to pirate their stuff even more. It annoys me so much when people try and keep things secret and force people to give them money(either through ads, or directly) for their content. Scanlators are a grey area for copyright to begin with, but things like games putting in software to prevent piracy, or music companies taking down videos of parodies. They don't give a damn about the content, they just want to force people into giving them money, nothing else matters. Just a veiled 'they didn't let me have any of their candy, so I'm taking my ball and going home.' I'm sure these guys have their reasons, and I still appreciate what they do for those of us who enjoy translations, but it rubs me the wrong way when I see stuff like this. I really wish more people would have faith in their product. Be it games, videos, or translations. There are ways to add your mark into what you've done, then release it to the public, instead of trying to push control and irritating people. Then again, while the masses still give people money for stupidity, stuff like this will never change.

I think that right there just about covers it. As I've stated before, I'm pretty sure I fall more into the first category. At the same time, many h-scenes are nothing more than pointless to a story. Very rarely will I ever find an h-scene that works properly in a romantic way. Most seem abrupt or thrown in at random. The proper H-scene with good story and sexual fulfillment is a dream that many of us have. However, I don't think it's going to be possible to please everyone. I've seen h-scenes that really push a plot element, but because of this, they just make the scene feel forced, or unnatural(F/SN). Like other's I have been known to skip yet another boring vanilla sex scene to continue the story and hope for something more interesting to me. All that said, I still think VN should at least attempt adult interactions. All ages stuff is just a form of censorship to me, maybe if game developers went more like Katawa, and gave the option to turn the H stuff off it would be more feasible to more people. But again, that just promotes making the H-scenes feel fillerish, or outside the main storyline. It's a pretty brutal circle of logic frustration.

Well, no secret here that I'm a Katawa fan. I may play S:G someday, but don't have any plans to soon. Deardrops is extremely good as well, both it and Katawa are in my top 4 with F/SN, and G-senjou.

Nah, easy or whatever was one level above the lowest level. I don't even think you can die if you turn it all the way down. xD Not much to say about wanting the battles to mean something though. It's a cheesy chibi beat-em-up, not sure what you were expecting. Maybe if there was more of an exp and rpg system... but there isn't.

I didn't think Mia was the worst sister ever... she had decent looks at least... >.> For my tastes anyway. As to a battle skip function, just put it on pathetically easy and button mash, that's all I did.

Hum, well found this a bit late, but I'm not sure it would have mattered much. The only one I've really played is Tears to Tiara, so it would have gotten my vote.

I actually didn't enjoy Hoshizora, so Kamidori gets my vote. The others in the poll are kinda lackluster(the couple I've played anyway) also I guess I missed #2 someplace? x.x Not sure how that happened.
