  1. First, make sure locale is in Japanese Changing to Japanese locale on Windows 7 | Eroge Download This is pretty much to ensure that windows knows how to handle Japanese characters

Make sure you have Winrar or 7zip installed. After downloading all the parts, just right click and extract part 1. After extracting part 1, you'll have a folder containing the .iso image or if it's pre-patched, you don't have to worry about the .iso file.

Make sure you have Daemon tools installed. Installing DAEMON Tools | Eroge Download

If you need to mount the image, use this guide Mounting CD images with DAEMON Tools | Eroge Download

So it all depends in how it's laid out once you extract part 1. If it's a pre-patched VN, you can just go to the folder and read the VN without mounting any images. If after extracting part 1 and it contains a disc image like a .iso file, then you would need to use Daemon tools to install the VN. Then you install it to a location (could just use the default location). If there is an English Patch in the downloads, then you can just usually drag the patch file after downloading it to the folder where the VN installed.

  2. Just from the name of "BOOB WARS 2" i think the quality of humor differs significantly from grisaia. But idk, i have not played boob wars 2, i have played boob wars 1(which i will not compare with grisaia)

It's probably the closet thing he'll get. And I hear a lot of people liked the comedy of it that didn't like the first one, so who knows.

  3. translated eroge that focuses mainly on humor and H-scenes.

Honestly.. probably Boob Wars 2. You'll have to deal with the lolis sometimes, but you'll get your fair share of large breasts. Little drama, comedy focused, lots of h-scenes.. sounds like it's down your alley.

As Lucifier said, Majikoi is probably the best suggestion as far as something that is at least mostly translated. I would also put down Sharin no Kuni, but it gets pretty dramatic and serious at times.. though you do see similarities with it and Grisaia no Kajitsu.

  4. Call my a bitter cynic, but I'm fully convinced 80% of Steam users have mush for brains, and will complain about how there is too much reading and not enough boob/panty shots.

Possible that some of them will. But consider the few serious VNs on steam.. User reviews of Planetarian = 99% positive, Narcissu 1&2 = 91% positive. I think most of them will be able to differentiate stuff like Sakura Spirit/Angel vs Planetarian/Eden*/Narcissu/etc

  5. Finished Killer Queen. Haven't read a VN since last March and needed something a bit short to get going. It's definitely in the longer spectrum of the 2-10 hours length on vndb, probably a good 8 hours. It was a decent VN with some problems that hopefully get fixed in the remake, Secret Game.

    Pros

    • Intriguing mystery setting and environment
    • The rules in the game can create some interesting situations.

    Cons

    • Execution is poor. Hopefully this gets fixed in Secret Game
    • Not enough interesting characters
    • The protag, while having a reason, can get pretty annoying.. especially in chapter 1

I thought Chapter 2 was better than Chapter 1, but to those of you that have read chapter 2, you probably know the main criticism that it's "easy" to solve. But the situations that Chapter 2 presents I thought was better. Chapter 1's main heroine just didn't do it for me and really wasn't that interesting.. it works for the protag's background.. the protag also, IMO, is a lot better in Chapter 2... though again, there's a reason why he acts like a pacifist in Chapter 1.

All in all, it's a decent mystery VN as long as you don't think it's the next 999 or whatever. Just lower your expectations a bit. One of the few characters I was interested in, Reika, has a route in Secret Game, so i'm looking forward to that since it's supposed to be the best route apparently. 6.5/10.

  6. I only watched 3 series, soooooo...

    1. Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works

    2. Parasyte (continues this season)

    3. Grisaia no Kajitsu

F/sn was awesome, Parasyte was entertaining in general, Grisaia got disappointing as soon as the character routes began (biggest problem being that there's not enough episodes, but there are other... insults as well).

    Forgetting Zankyou : )

    My list would be

    1. UBW - not much to say about this.. they did a great job here adapting the source material. Fights are amazing, nothing to complain about except very minor things. 9/10

    2. Alnoah Zero S1 - I don't watch much mecha and don't go out of my watch to really watch it, but I did watch the first season of this and thought it was pretty good. I know some people were kind of disappointed on how it ended and the wait for season 2, but I thought it was pretty intriguing. 8/10

    3. Zankyou no Terror - Started off really great. I thought it would go down as a 10 or a 9 at the very least, but it kind of lost its mojo after episode 7 or 8... after the introduction of a certain character. Disappointed the way it ended, but still worth a watch. 8/10

    4. Grisaia no Kajitsu - They did some things right.. voiced Yuuji was great, the comedy was adapted pretty well... just not enough episodes to adapt the routes well. 6/10

  7. [spoiler=visual novel spoilers] They haven't officially found out who Caster's master is yet, which will probably happen next episode. This is a total guess on my part, but I think they might leave off at the part where Archer betrays Rin as a midpoint in the series

Essentially this season has 16 normal length episodes for half of the route, and they've done a damn good job so far
