The (official) My Little Pony thread!!!
SaruDa replied to SaruDa's topic in General Discussions & Debates
Finally got around to watching the newest episode. Meh, too much music IMO. That song at the beginning got leaked so all I could think of while it was playing was this version: -
Yandere is best dere.

whats the most important thing in a eroge
SaruDa replied to erogeking's topic in General Discussions & Debates
AMAZING characters, IMO. Just saying, the games wouldn't be anywhere near as interesting with the formless moe-blobs that inhabit many anime/VNs. -
To Heart. From what I hear it was revolutionary in being the first popular love/dating based eroge. Why is it still not translated?
-
Don't be preposterous, every One Piece arc is kickass. This is their first voyage in the new world, so I bet we'll finally get to see the extent of their new powers and possibly even a little teaser towards the ending of the manga.

What are you listening to right now?
SaruDa replied to Danisco's topic in General Discussions & Debates
I tend to avoid Japanese pop/visual kei these days. Right now I'm listening to The Knife - Deep cuts. -
How Long have you been Playing Eroges?
SaruDa replied to ultimumknight's topic in Eroge General Talk
Since 2008, so maybe 3.5 years? -
I'm sure a lot of you are wondering: Why is there a My Little Pony thread on an eroge forum?!? Well let me tell you. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a show that debuted in October 2010 and steadily gained an internet cult following for the following reasons: 1. Animation. The animation is pretty top-notch. If you don't believe me, watch a couple episodes from cartoon network. Notice how the faces are "fixed" at a certain angle not looking straight into the camera. Lazy animation. With My Little Pony you get incredibly detailed animation and a full range of 3d motion despite the true 2d animation. The faces of the ponies are also extremely varied, and make a host of expressions, different in form for each pony(see: Applejack's cute little nose) 2. The characters. The characters in My Little Pony are not static. They evolve and grow as individuals. They are actually interesting and are able to surprise the viewers in every episode because they act like REAL PEOPLE. 3. The story. Lauren Faust(producer of MLP, you may remember her from The Powerpuff Girls) put an immense amount of effort into ensuring that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was not all about tea parties or rainbows. There are real conflicts(In one episode the ponies have to try to convince a dragon to take his century-long nap elsewhere, and in another they completely fail to listen to each other and end up infesting the town with host of flying parasites). These only serve to define the characters better, and they really succeed in drawing the viewer in. 4. Humor. The show succeeds in really being funny. The staff and writers are obviously pretty skilled in writing and the voice actors are equally skilled in execution. Overall the line execution rivals that of most anime. So what are you waiting for? I left links to the first two episodes below, I'd highly recommend starting there. If you search on youtube you can find most of the episodes, and it couldn't hurt you to at least try a few, right? whats the most important thing in a eroge
SaruDa replied to erogeking's topic in General Discussions & Debates
Characters, without a doubt. If the characters are lovable and interesting, they can be doing mundane things and make it seem fun. A perfect example of this is "Crimsoness". I use that example because although the graphics were shit, I don't remember any music to speak of, and there was no coherent plotline, the batshit-crazy interesting protag made it a decent little mini-game. -
Anyone else read the One Piece manga? I'm super pumped for the newest arc, it's gonna be so kickass.

What do you prefer playing? Love or Dark themed visual novels?

Special cookies? -
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who absolutely adored Ciel's ending. I tend to feel the same way as him when I'm playing a VN though. Unless there's a recommended play order I save the "main" heroine for last. Then I play roughly in the order of "least favorite to favorite", or "heroine I'll feel least bad about leaving to heroine I'll feel most bad about leaving". Right now I'm playing 娘姉妹(Musume Shimai) and おれのなつやすみ(Ore no natsuyasumi). Both fairly straightforward loli nukige.
-
I know that feeling. I'm playing a lot of nukige in Japanese because the words tend to be simpler, and most of the newer ones are voiced, which helps me learn the kanji.
-
What I've been doing for now is just coloring the font "lavender blush" or white.
-
1. Liar-soft 2. Nitro+ 3. Four leaf studios(lol) 4. Capcom(Phoenix Wright) 5. Type-moon 6. Gainax(Does princess maker count?)
-
Heh. That's mildly hilarious to me
-
Woah, spoiler alert! Color that shit white or something!
-
Did you really play Kagetsu Tohya before Tsukihime? Why, if you don't mind my asking?
-
Ah, yes. I really really don't like those versions. They're in DVD format, the subs are buggy as hell, there's no saving system, it's all-ages, the subs are missing in spots, the art is less refined than the phantom integration version...long story short, I refuse to play the DVD version(especially since sex scenes play an important part in the story). I kind of resent Hirameki for releasing that version and killing any future enthusiasm for a proper translation, actually
-
Excellent choice. I'm still waiting for Phantom of Inferno to get translated. If not, it's one of the first games I'll play when my Japanese reading level is sufficient.

What do you prefer playing? Love or Dark themed visual novels?
SaruDa replied to Ryu's topic in Eroge General Talk
I still kind of wish the original post were clearer, because I'm really curious what they meant. Love is fairly straight-forward(School dramas, heart-warming stories, etc), but dark themes isn't. Is he talking about games which focus on rape and such? Is he talking about all games that have a darkish setting(Fantasy, science fiction, etc)? -
Death of the main character. "may contain some spoiler alerts"
SaruDa replied to Breakthrough's topic in Anime Lobby
I think that I prefer the death of the protagonist. In the end though it's just a different type of story. -
I would really like to see: Saya no Uta Kusarihime a well-done Tsukihime anime G-senjou no Maou A Katawa Shoujo anime would be hilarious, since it's not exactly crafted for the Japanese palette.
