Naka no Hito nado Inai! Tokyo Hero Project http://s.vndb.org/cv/45/13845.jpg Cute art style, similar to Osadai... well, it's made by the same people apparently. Shares characters with Osadai according to VNDB. Probably some good comedy in there. Would read.

What are you listening to right now?

[spoiler=Umineko song]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z27pIIOnZlU Mmmmmmmmm... Umi music... so many nice ones to choose from. Gotta love all the songs with lyrics. Though the versions without lyrics are obviously excellent too. -
Hayarigami DS: Toshidensetsu Kaii Jiken http://s.vndb.org/cv/13/2513.jpg This one looks pretty decent. DS game, dark, mature, murder mystery, detective work. It's in Japanese but not really gonna take that into account for this. I'd play it.

Favorite 07th Game
Harlequin replied to radiantmadness's topic in 07th expansion fans's 07th expansion fans Topics
I think it goes without saying now, but whatever: Umineko (Chiru) really did end up being the very best. So, When They Cry was an ever improving experience after all even though it started out fantastic in arc 1 of Higurashi. You better believe that I wasn't sure that it would end up this way back when I had just finished all of Higurashi. But here we are. So: #1 Umineko Chiru, #2 Umineko Ni, #3 Higurashi Kai, #4 Higurashi Ni. ... And now to wait for the next When They Cry masterpiece while reading Higanbana+Rose Guns Days at some point. -
EP2 did not disappoint! At least not for me it didn't. They're keeping the quality up. Mokocchi is awesome and funny, plain and simple. "Screenshot moments" all over the place in this anime. But there's more than just comedy in there, that's for sure. [spoiler=EP2]Kuroneko, welcome! Glad to see you again.

What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
1. As Gerard said, you should read Higurashi first either way. Umineko (1-4) is called 'When They Cry 3'... and that's all I will say. There are patches for Higurashi as well in case you're wondering. 2. ... Well I'm not going to say too much about it right now, but: You don't know what Umineko is and what it can do, until you decide to read it. And I mean the entire series. That description on VNDB? Couldn't possibly get any more basic. We should all be THANKFUL for it being so basic actually. -

!! !! But yea, definitely. I mean, read something else? Now? Geeeeeeeez... hard to imagine... Well to be fair, still need to read/play Tsubasa, Hane and Ougon Musou Kyoku Cross, and going to do that before moving on to anything else. ... It really is sad. Umineko is "over". I already said that in my post above and also the fact that I'm happy about getting the chance to experience it in the first place. But it's still sad that it's over, regardless. [spoiler=Umineko Chiru Ending]I cried... a lot. That moment when the screen pans over all the characters and such... mmm. All the characters congratulating and welcoming home Battler - Toya now being free of those old memories. I figured that it might look different from the original version of the VN when you have the UmiTweak patch applied (has voice acting, whatever the case), and since I decided to record it earlier, here you go: Umineko 'The End' (sendspace download link) Just in case you or anyone else wanna check it out. Didn't include the awesome ending song, but oh well. -

Oh yea, VERY interesting to say the least! [spoiler=SUPER UMINEKO SPOILER][Let's be honest, Shannon and Kanon even from the beginning seemed a bit... off, with the way they talked. But also the actual events of the 1-4 episodes (which were stories/theories/message bottles). The fact that Kanon 'disappeared' in both EP2 and EP4, for example. It's pretty weird though, yes. And also, not that many things is 100% certain... at all. It's a catbox. Plenty of different events *could* have happened. Plenty of things have not been confirmed. Yasu's/Lion's gender and his/her problems with identifying with it for example is a HUGE DEAL. One of the biggest mysteries in there, and a core part of the main 'problem', so to speak. I love it. It's very interesting and something that you can think about long after the VN is over with. Because when you bring up his/her gender, you also have to start wondering about the relationships he/she had with George, Jessica and Battler... ... Yasu is an intriguing one. "Shkanontrice." Suffice it to say, the backstory in EP7 brought this mystery right out there. And shed some light on it as well of course. Despite knowing that Yasu created the Beatrice personality (which was due to her needing a new one who still yearned for Battler who never came), I never realized until reading about it afterwards that Yasu MIGHT actually be the one who was on the boat together with Battler in the Magic ending. It kinda does make sense, right? But still didn't think of it for some reason, lol. Well, *supposedly*, Yasu suicided by jumping from the boat... aaaand *perhaps* Battler actually jumped after him/her... though if that's what happened, then Battler survived anyway since he "became" Toya in the end. This also assumes then that Toya's brain damage made him completely forget about Yasu escaping with him from Rokkenjima, since he never mentioned Yasu at all to Ange afterwards. [Of course, that might not be what happened at all. It's not certain. It can't be. Toya himself told Ange a kinda different story... well, who knows what really happened there. [... Well, in any case, YES. I lllllike it. I like it all. -

I have also finished Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru (EP 5-8) now, and the whole series as a result. In fact, all of When They Cry (Higurashi + Umineko) even. Still got those two fandiscs left, Tsubasa and Hane, and also the fighting game expansion - Ougon Musou Kyoku Cross. But other than that, I'm done. What to say now then... I could not possibly be happier about having read and experienced When They Cry. These VNs were perfect for my taste. They are my top favourites (Umineko/Chiru being #1), for sure, absolutely, with certainty. As for Umineko and Umineko Chiru specifically... well I already mentioned some of my feelings about this series in my previous 'Umineko Ni post'. But you know, might as well sum it up again because why not: For me, Umineko has the best story, the best writing, the best characters, the best music and the best voice acting. So that's -at least- five 'best' for me in this series. Yes, voice acting only applies when you read it with the UmiTweak patch. That's what I did. I also really liked the character sprite art, backgrounds and CGs (again, UmiTweak was used). All the expressions that you get to see on the characters' faces are a big deal for Umineko... and well, personally I think the PS3 sprites did it really well. It's quite subjective though whether you prefer the PS3 art or the original stuff. Sound effects also played a big role, as expected, and they were very effective... as expected . They always have been in these 07th Expansion sound novels. So no disappointment there. When I say "best story", or favourite *anything*, I realize that that is not very descriptive. I know. I'm not very good at describing exactly how I feel about something in general. I repeat myself a lot. Still, maybe I'll try go into much more detail later. However, 'best' is EXACTLY what I mean really. For example, it has the best story in my opinion because it's the most complex, intricate, thought-provoking, epic, multi-themed, atmospheric, mysterious and absolutely awesome story that I've had the pleasure to go through. Yes I forgot some adjectives and other stuff in there probably. It will do for now. All of this was solidified for me even more after reading episodes 5-8. Loved all the OPs. Even the PS3 OPs - or at the very least the one in Chiru. The PS3 OPs are filled to the brim with spoilers though... that's a shame. I don't agree with anyone thinking that Umineko Ni (1-4) is better than Umineko Chiru (5-8). Sorry, but no. I didn't have a problem with the 'end result' of Umineko, as it were... in fact, it's the complete opposite for me. I'm so damn satisfied by it. It's exactly how it should be. And I'm guessing maybe the people who didn't like Chiru as much weren't happy with how it ended? Well that's a shame for them I guess. I'm actually a bit surprised by how much better Chiru was in the end. Didn't think it would be, considering the ratings it's got on VNDB. I mean, for example, episode 8? Oooooooh myyyy gooooood. Fucking amazing. The previous episodes were too for that matter. You know exactly what rating I personally gave this VN. I can't even comprehend the idea of giving it less. If you're actually using UmiTweak for Umineko, then... I mean... no... NO. NOPE. It doesn't deserve less. It just doesn't. It's a masterpiece. The best VN and VN series I've ever read. I got nothing to complain about with it. ... Except ONE thing that has come to mind so far... although it's not really anything serious, hehe. And it's this: [spoiler=Umineko Chiru]Chiester 556 (Go-Go-Roku). She never showed up ... in "fantasy character bunny form", that is. I wanted to see her getting resurrected and show up at some point near the end, with some voice acting even. But nope, didn't happen. Obviously not a big deal, but eh, might as well mention it anyway lol. http://i.imgur.com/Db2mI8D.png Am I sad because it's over now? Yea... definitely. Very sad. You always want more, don't you. Even when the ending and everything is satisfying already, you still want more. BUT... you know... that simply doesn't change the fact that I'm so goddamn happy about having experienced it at all. It will be an incredible memory. And hey, now I can actually go and eat up all of that fandom surrounding Umineko without getting spoiled on anything. I had sooooooooooooo much fun with Umineko, When They Cry. I have never pondered about a story to this extent before. So many different emotions that you go through when reading it all. And the fucking music! GODLIKE. And the characters! Ooooh man, so many of them, so awesome, so funny, so interesting. Tellin' ya, VN BLISS. That's what Umineko is. Alright, enough for now! You get the idea. [spoiler=When They Cry] ""See you again. When something else cries."" *thumbs up* -
Wow, GREAT first episode. To be honest, it's not often that I laugh out loud from watching any anime... it's usually more like a low snicker/snort/whatever, right? But this first episode of Watamote actually pulled it off. Mission accomplished I guess. Kuroki Tomoko was even more awesome and funny than I thought she'd be.
-
Yeee, gonna watch this. Seems funny and has a unique main character... or that's my perception of her right now at least, hehe.
-
Yea agreed, definitely the best part of the story. So even if you don't like the first chapters of the VN, it's worth it to continue.
-
Oh this has raising sim gameplay huh... didn't know that actually. And nice ratings it's got too! Hm hm yes, promising.

*thumbs up*

Awesome! !! !!

Mm, nice to have another big gameplay VN. It seems to be of good quality as well.

Let me change my statement then since no, you're right, I haven't read all VNs in existence: Umineko has the best OST by far of any VN I've read so far. No other VN's OST that I've heard even comes close. It's on a different level entirely from any of them. It's extremely unlikely (but not 100%, true) that I'm going to hear a better OST for a VN any time in the future.

Okay, didn't know about that actually, thanks! Well if the anime is considered better by most anyway then nevermind I guess. : p
