Here's what I do to make sure I don't lose my save files: backup the entire game directory to an external hard drive.

That looks pretty good but that just means it will be easier to read. It's still a machine translation. I could take a machine translation and edit it into sentences that look good, but it still wouldn't improve the quality of the translation itself. You'll probably still be missing a lot with that translation. Better editing ≠ correct translation.
