OneManArmy 82
It was picked up by some guy who barely knew Japanese. Looks like he quit/stalled it after a month. Doubt we'll see it finished unless someone more experienced picks it up. I'm not amused. =\

desi 53
This project seems to have slowed down alot over the last few months.. Is there anyone here who know, or have an idea whats going on with it? Sheeta picked it up after Edger dropped it. It will be done in a month or two. After this, Sheeta will move to translating Air. Ryu 15
For those who want to know how MG's sales went, how they pick up VNs, etc. A summary of all MG's status. MangaGamer's Summary (By Yirba): Explanation of MangaGamer and visual novels How MangaGamer came about Problems with pricing Lots of people interested in VNs, but sales are considerably less Hardcopy sales do about the same as online sales; sales have doubled MangaGamer is focussed on PC releases, not mobile releases Selecting titles to license is like a round-table discussion between staff who speak both English and Japanese, i.e. Kouryuu and one other (EvoSpace?) Look at forums and blog comments to see what fans want Japanese businesspeople trust people by drinking with them Higurashi sold fairly well. Hasn't sold as well as Shuffle or Koihime Kira Kira All-Ages: Online version sold hardly any copies. Hardcopy has done quite well. Go Go Nippon has performed within their expectations Plans to do more with Go Go Nippon Nyu Media partnership came about easily Shuffle sold very well Soul Link sold "not so well" Expect more Navel titles in the future (MangaGamer have been talking with them quite a bit recently) Japanese companies are "walking a tightrope" Japanese VN market is saturated One of the reason why they're looking to the West L10n process starts with negotiations. Easy with Overdrive, but can take a long time for new companies Contracts signed, get materials, get Japanese copy of the game, get scripts Translation takes the longest time Deardrops translation (2MB) took 6-8 months alongside other work Dengeki Stryker (1.5~1.8MB) took translator 4-5 months After translation comes editing Editor usually keeps up with pace of translation, usually 4-5 titles at once Then, script-insertion; scripts are put back into game engine (time can vary) Shuffle took a month or two to port to BGI ef: the first tale porting took a long time because minori had to work on Japanese releases as well Probably same thing with Nitroplus After, beta testing Can take 2-4 weeks per MB of text Beta testers test for technical errors, but this is minor Most of beta testing is picking up errors like parentheses not displaying correctly due to conversion from Word (they're still using Word, huh?) Kouryuu plays game from start to finish before starting translation so he can enjoy it, especially for nukige "Nukige will never be a hit, but you will get a steady number of sales that you can rely on." Story games can be very hit-and-miss Da Capo, Kotori ExP didn't do well at all Shuffle and Koihime sold "crazy amounts" Titles with anime tend to get more popularity, but not always ef sales have been disappointing (Ryu: No surprise here, most VN fans already played it with NNL's patch.) People might be waiting for a hardcopy PLAY DENGEKI STRYKER Dengeki was made with the Western market in mind OtoBoku beta testing is about to start (out later this Fall) Eroge! has a lot of fun hidden insights into the VN industry Hoping that Ef does well, so can get more titles from Minori And in other news, Bladr Sky is not dead, Ixrec confirmed this via Twitter and so did Futsuu. I'm still working on it, yes. Just taking a bit too long in revising old scripts before I tackle new ones. So don't despair, project is not dead. So don't despair, project is not dead. Best news I've heard all day. Da Capo, Kotori ExP didn't do well at all. : Also, lol at "People might be waiting for a hardcopy" for Ef. Nice summary though. desi 53
And in other news, Bladr Sky is not dead, Ixrec confirmed this via Twitter and so did Futsuu. So don't despair, project is not dead. Worst case scenario, if Futsuu does somehow drop it in the future, I think Ixrec would continue and finish up the project. Or maybe that isn't the worst case. Either way, can't wait until it finishes up.
