The vast majority of people who buy from mangagmer or other eroge resellers are from USA so it's just natural that the companies producing eroge try to stay out of trouble with US laws or US lobby groups.

He also stated that the current project is dead and that a staff member of the Eustia project told him it was dead.. so not sure what's going on.

This post is the epitome of ignorance and generalisation. Do a bit of research before making yourself look like an ass. Although the american media may be responsible for blowing a lot of these things out of proportion, they are hardly the only country to do so. Moreover, the whole anti-american attitude gets really tiring after a while; do yourself, and everyone else, a favour and lay off.

 

On a completely unrelated note, Aiyoku no Eustia isn't something I was paying much attention to, but actually it looks really solid now that I've looked at it. Hope the translation project is still slowly chugging along, although if Ixrec says no, who knows.

I "complain" about the whole "french 12yo girls" thing because it was a lame excuse by MoeNovel to butcher pretty much everything in the sake of decency , not because Bush told me to do so. They took a 18+ VN and turned it into shit. Good news for me is that i wasnt interested on it on the first place , but everyone else who was felt insulted when they read the reason why from MoeNovel , and i would be as well because trying to make a VN "appealing to 12 year old French girls" is the ultimate cop out for censorship. Also , im not american , im european.

Dude, America has been making France jokes since WWII, Which is weird, since we were on pretty good terms with them before that.

 

It was really the whole surrender and Nazi Collaboration thing that kinda soured Frances reputation around the world. France was well regarded before that because of its performance in ww1 and before that for helping in the American revolution. Unfortunately It seems only the last war matters so the french will be cheese eating surrender monkeys until ww3 kicks off.

Well, [iF] he picks it up later, at least we could be sure about the quality and speed. I highly doubt the original translator is as good as Ixrec. He already lost in "motivation" and "effort" department.

So the whole "12 year old French girls" was the reason for this botched joke of a localization... Weird since they first released this in English. Anyway that's just some dumb reason to justify trying to appeal to broader audience, the only problem I have with this is that they should have localize a VN which was already all-age instead of butchering an eroge... I really don't care about the porn (contrary to what some people could think), I just want to play/read something the way it was meant to be. I hope they'll understand that wanting to turn a 18+ game into a 12+ game is a bad idea and even more so when you just cut content without replacing it by something else (like most eroge turned all-age games do).

@Gerard the Lone Wolf: Doesn't really makes sense to me anyway since a lot of French don't speak English or at least don't bother to make the effort of reading something in any other language than French unless they reaaaaally have to... Plus when did French girls became so prude that kiss scenes would be to shocking for them? If their target were girls they should have localize some otomege instead and if they wanted to sell it to French girls they should have translated it to French not English...

Noooo, you got it wrong. The purpose of this particular English localization is to win over the French girls audience. That's why they removed/censored the kissing scenes. Because French can't handle kiss.

I think there is a patch out with 2 heroines, i know for sure that there is one with one path translated, not sure if with two.

You're sure? Last time I checked the only patch available was Common Route + a partial Elina Patch. If what you say is true I'm going to search for this patch.
