What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Yes I hope you're right about that. I was looking forward to it NOT being a short experience... Well I'm not that fast with the actual reading, although it depends on how addictive the story is. Fate/stay night went fairly quickly considering it's length since it was damn entertaining. -
Well, he's right I guess. It comes down to whether one loves to read or not... Not much to do about it. Atleast you have a friend like that who watches anime. That's not so bad after all. Back in my school (days) there were atleast SOME who liked anime/manga. Or atleast that made it obvious they like the stuff. Artsy people, mostly girls, who drew anime characters on breaks. None of my friends had any interest in it though, or even mentioned it at any point. It was kinda the same for me in the end. But I for one atleast appreciated anime/manga when I actually saw it back then, but I never pursued it, I never looked for the stuff. Now I regret abit not speaking with any of those artsy ones, they were very nice people, yet still frowned upon. They were weird, or so everyone around them thought. What's funny is that I would probably have fit in with them more than with the friends I had. I raised the wrong flags and got an imperfect route, you could say. As for VNs though, no one at that school ever mentioned them. I never knew they even existed. What a shame, because I've always loved reading. Well, thank you Katawa Shoujo. I'd never end up here on this site, ever (probably), if it wasn't for you.

Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Wowwwwwwwwwww yes, as Star said. 19 hours? I thought it would be way longer than that with all those routes. If you truly read it through in normal fashion and it still ended up only taking 19 hours, then I'm surprised! Haha... ... ... Damnit, that's not good. Well you gave it a 8 or a 9, but length is still a factor and I thought it would be a long VN. -
Yea, thumbs up for this.
-
Atleast it will be a good memory for you. Obvious, I know, but it's nice just remembering that you've experienced some art.

What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Yea, so they are. It makes sense to have some of that on a FANdisc. Still, either way, it's boring. Wait, no, not just boring. Hmmmmm, what word to use... Sleep-inducing, perhaps. -

Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
You should make a new post when finished, since it'll be easier to see then incase this thread goes to the next page before you're done. I'd love to hear about it, so. Do have fun... It's almost guaranteed to be great. *spoilery things are all in the spoilerbox* Well I'm done with the fandisc (Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo) of Sharin no Kuni. I read the main VN some time ago, started the fandisc right afterwards and unfortunately, started reading some of those girl routes. They are trash. Sorry, akabeisoft, but they are. You can write some really excellent stuff, but those are pure garbage. It made me sleepy and bored out of my skull. Anyway, as a result of that I gave up on reading it. Fast forward until some days ago, desi and iLoveTsundere convinced me to read the fandisc again since apparently "you're not done with Sharin until you've read the Houzuki route" on it. Well I never thought about that myself before... But now I can see that it's true. Perhaps "taking a break" from Sharin was a good thing, because I ended up missing it but also looking forward to coming back to it. Now I know that it was important to read the Houzuki route myself, in more ways than one. The story told through the Sharin VNs is the real deal. It kept me at the edge of my seat before, and managed to do so yet again in the Houzuki route on the fandisc. It just doesn't fail. There's something here that is just interesting and exciting... Well, I'm not sure how to explain it. I don't know what words to use. Hm... The human mind is interesting. Is that maybe it? You get to see some interesting mindsets in Sharin. And characters with these mindsets are unpredictable. You just don't know what will happen next, what they will do. In the fandisc, you get to see more of one such character, along with some others. That is almost enough on its own, but the overall plot here is excellent too. It had some of the same excitement found in the main Sharin VN. In other words, it's like an actual extension of the main VN, meaning that it is infact important to not skip it. So thanks for making me read it, really. It's most definately worth the time. There's nothing to say about visuals and sound other than - it's as good as it was in the main VN. There's some new songs, one song in particular having a funny sound to it. But in general, it's the same as in the main VN, which is good. So the summary for the fandisc is this: Houzuki route is an important and excellent read, everything else is numbingly boring. Not 100% sure on what to read next, guess we'll see. -
A Ghost Trick wallpaper that I changed the colour on, since purple is my favourite... Oh and the logo is gone too. It's simple but sweet.
-
Gonna be honest, comedy alone is never enough to interest me in something... well, with some exceptions here and there maybe, but in general it's not. Great storytelling, mystery, intrigue, drama (not heavy psychological drama), interesting romance and happy aftermaths - that's some of the stuff I value most. But this anime is funny, of course. Funnier than alot of other things I've seen. It's cute comedy. The characters are cute. The animation is fantastic. That said, it actually does have something more than just comedy. And it shows itself in the last part of the first episode. If you've seen it then you know what I mean. That scene was really sweet. Hopefully, there'll be some more similar situations later on. Also, the romance bit will probably be very nice after some more episodes aswell. Oh and, napping club? Everyone in my school was part of that club I think.
-
Completed translation, that's always happy news. I don't know anything about the VN myself but that's irrelevant because - FULL PATCH RELEASE!
-
Hah, well if you put it that way it then it's probably true that it has a bad/weird ending. I haven't read it though. Was going to sooner or later, along with the other titles (Forest, Shikkoku no Sharnoth) from the same developer. The art style seems strange and different. Oh and I have NO clue whatsoever what Forest is all about.

What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Mm, I understand. Yes it'll of course differ alot from person to person what they think of these endings. Well it's nice to see different takes on it either way. How good each ending of F/sn is seems to be extremely subjective, honestly. More than usual even. I guess that's a good thing? Oh right, I remember now. Yes I was wondering whether you had just stopped with it or not. Good anyway that you'll continue, because spoiled or not, it's still very much worth the read. -

Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Why, you thinking of reading it Gerard? x) Well you should, but you already know that. Though you've been spoiled on a few things? Well this one of those must read VNs, as said before. But it's not perfection like Muv-Luv, so... a 9 I guess? It's incredibly entertaining overall. It's #5 on VNDB right now so it's expected to be great of course. -
Hohoho, this is gonna hurt. I've never mentioned this before but, for me it's... Hoshizora no Memoria. That's right. DON'T KILL ME. The true route of this VN, Mystery Girl. I was looking forward to it alot, because this character seemed to be the best out of everyone. The VN as a whole was going real good, so it's not like it was a chore to get to that true route. But once I got there...

Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Another? Has there already been one then? Not very surprising I guess. So what did you think of the endings then? I'm curious. My own thoughts on it would be a guaranteed spoiler for desi (in particular) if put outside a spoiler box, oh yes it would be. -
What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
So he is. I'm sure everyone here thinks he's *good* too. I mean, there's plenty of worse protagonists out there than Shirou... Yes, that's probably worth mentioning. Anyway, hope you have fun with the VN then, should be good for you. -
What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
He did good, yes. He wasn't bad, no, but could've been better. Maybe I was being abit "harsh"? It's not like he's anywhere near terrible. Either way, it's really subjective when it comes to whether a character is likable or not. Some will think he's great, some will not. For me he felt alittle bit similar to Takeru (Muv-Luv) in a way, which is good but not amazing. The akabeisoft protagonists are amazing. However... I will say this: If Kotomine was not part of this VN, then Shirou would be worse. Anyone who has read the VN would understand. Totally. Kotomine is an incredible character. I almost want to put him up there with the likes of Houzuki actually. His backstory and way of doing things are really interesting. Great voice too. -
What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Fate/stay night. It's over. Good lord... Well, I'll put spoiler worthy stuff in a box down below. That's probably for the best because spoilers, even if accidental, are the worst as anyone here would know. By the way, thank you very much for the suggestions I got in the shoutbox to try this VN. I did ask for something to read and this is what I got. Sorry in advance for the length of this text. This was an epic journey. But that's obvious right? I knew it would be take a long time to finish before starting because of VNDB. But really, it was longer than expected. It was atleast as long as the entire Muv-Luv series. Yes, it was quite exhausting to say the least. But let's just get this out of the way right now: This is an incredibly entertaining VN. One of the best, no doubt. I was so addicted to reading it that I haven't really been doing much else infront of the computer. Plain and simple, it had a thrilling and intense story that I just wanted to keep reading. So, some specifics then - Art/Visuals. Before starting to read it, I thought that the sprite art would put me off somewhat. It doesn't really look like what I'm used to. But of course, even if it's different from what one is used to, it doesn't mean it can't be good. It definately was good in the end. The CG art on the other hand is more than just good - it's really great. Also, one different thing worth mentioning is the way the text presents itself. It appears in the middle in a transparent grey box which more or less covers the entirety of the screen. This is certainly different from most VNs... But it works. I liked it, but I'm not sure for what reason. Does it make it feel more like reading a normal novel? And if so, would that be a good thing? Does it make the text appear more "powerful"? I'm not sure, I just know it works really well. Sound/Music. Good all-around. Voice actors did a great job here to say the least. Memorable. When it comes to music, one song in particular is just... Perfect, astonishingly perfect. I'll put a link to it in the spoiler box since it appears near the end of the last route in the VN. I had goosebumps, because it's a flawless piece put in the exact right spots. Characters. Easily the best part, for me. I love these characters and there are many of them. "Cool" is the right word. They are cool. The weapons, the skills, the personalities, the looks, the voices, I love it. And yes I do have a favourite, but the name of that one goes straight to the spoiler box. Although, it's not hard to have several favourite characters in this VN really. The main character, Shirou, is not the best but still good enough. He's got nothing on the likes of Kenichi from Sharin no Kuni. Unfortunate but also expected. Still, that's just a personal opinion really. Some will like him, some will not. Shinji... He's the worst of the worst and that's almost all that needs to be said. Overall plot. Something epic. Dark, thrilling, mystical, intense, interesting... Well there's alot of that atleast, but not only. There's something special to this though that made me want to keep reading. I wanted to see what happens next. It was an addictive story that I'm going to miss alot. Maybe there are some negatives to it here and there, but if so, I really can't remember them now because the VN as a whole was so good. The tiger dojos deserves an honorable mention also. It was fun to get the bad endings because of them. They break up the seriousness of the bad endings with something lighthearted so it's easy to keep going. This is one of those must read VNs. Yes, I seem to have only read VNs like that lately. First Muv-Luv, then Sharin no Kuni, now Fate/stay night. Geez. However, I will say this, again: This is a really long read. So that's something to keep in mind. Still, I'd say that's just a positive in the end. It's a long and entertaining story, well worth all that time. So that's that. Sad that yet another great VN has ended, but it kinda had to. Here's the spoiler box, which is only safe to read if you've read the VN already - -
What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
You don't hear many people around here mention Gadget Trial really. It seems to be abit similar to Advance Wars on the GBA/DS, which is great because those games are amazing. So worth a try then atleast. Well, I just finished Fate/stay night completely... I'll write something about that today. -
Agreed on that one. #1 VN to play for gameplay, besides Sengoku Rance. It's actually really good and it's tempting to continue with it for me aswell (never finished it).
-
Honestly, Rewrite looks like fun. The first Key VN that I wanna read based completely on my own view of it. Saw it on VNDB before, screenshots and all. The art looks really nice and it probably has good humour. And it has aliens (?) and mystery... That's sweet.
-
Hmm... It will no doubt differ from person to person how they look at it. But here's what I think: it has the same kind of feelings as Sharin, yet it's still definately darker as desi said, overall. You remember Houzuki from Sharin? You remember what kind of aura he emanated? THAT kind of darkness is all over the place in G-senjou. Highly intelligent and enigmatic humans. Oh yes. There's more of them in G-senjou than Sharin. But does the VN contain any happiness? Yes. There's alot of despair, but "good" wins in the end. It has some innocence and humour sprinkled around here and there. It's not "dark action thriller mystery" all of the time. The characters can be very funny and endearing at times. In any case, it's a well-written VN. I agree though that Sharin had something quite original to it. G-senjou is more realistic I think. Well, maybe it's not worth it then. I don't know how funny it is anyway. Never read it, just knew that it existed and that it's a nukige. Someone else could probably chime in on that.
-
That is true unfortunately... The battles drag on abit. But it's OK. It would be nice if it was possible to turn off the special power animations and whatnot. If desperate, one could always use Cheat Engine to speed up the game. Oh yes. I tried it with Sengoku Rance - it works well. Easy to turn on and off.
-
Gee, that's alot of VNs you got there. Well the ones desi mentioned are probably the best choices despite partial translation... And maybe G-senjou aswell, yes, since you did read Sharin anyway. Though G-senjou isn't exactly lighthearted. ... Anyway, here's some more titles I could think of! I can't speak for how good some of them are - they're just some titles that came to mind. Koihime Musou - This could be very good for you despite the gameplay. The gameplay is basically not even worth mentioning - it's very, very easy turn-based "strategy" and that's all there is to it. There's alot of comedy in the story, it looks and sounds good, and... Yes, it's not bad at all. It's not school life comedy, no. But it's lighthearted fantasy comedy. I recommend it. Dengeki Stryker - Made by the same people who made Deardrops and whatnot. Might be something. Doesn't seem to be that seriousface. I couldn't say for sure though, haven't read it. Downhill Night and Downhill Night 2 - You might very well like these. Atleast the second one. Note: they don't actually have gameplay, the "racing game" is just choices you get during a race. Sure they're timed but it's still just choices. We Love Master - A nukige. It's not on your list and... Well that's pretty much it. Comedy harem of some sort. Kotori Love Ex P - You didn't mention this and it's Da Capo related, so...
-
Mm yes. "Horror 2.7 Mystery 2.7 Fear of Death 2.0" - that's a good sign right there. Those screenshots sure look intriguing atleast. If anyone here has played it already, or, when you have played it, tell us what you thought of it. I'm curious.
