Hello!
This place feels lonely... and that's not good at all! I absolutely adore Ever17. It's a visual novel that everyone must read. No exceptions. I doubt I'll ever get to experience a better mystery VN than this one myself. It was that good for me. 10/10!
But I didn't want to make this post just to tell you the above. No, I wanted to share with you some very cool patches for Ever17 that you might not be aware of. Kudos to desi for letting me know about them. And yes, I can confirm that the patches are working. It's awesome stuff, especially for someone who wants to re-read this VN.
Oh, and I decided to upload them to mediafire/sendspace since the torrents can be slow at times. Choose whichever download method you prefer. Enjoy!
Ever17 Xbox360 BGM Patch
Torrent
Mediafire
This patch replaces the original PC music with the Xbox360 music. Yes, there is an untranslated Xbox360 remake of Ever17. With this patch you can now read the PC version with the music from that Xbox360 version. Please note that you may still end up preferring some/many/all of the PC songs over the Xbox360 ones. It'll come down to personal taste. Either way, it's very nice to have the option of using this patch at least. It's especially good for those of us who might want to re-read this VN at some point, as I mentioned before.
Put the "bgm.dat" file in the main folder of Ever17. Remember to first make a backup of the original bgm.dat file, or rename it. That way you can easily switch back to the original PC music whenever you feel like doing so.
Ever17 Voice+SFX Patch
Torrent
Mediafire: part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 - part 5 - part 6
This patch gives you the higher quality voices and sound effects from the PS2 version of Ever17. It makes it sound better in general, so just get it!
The installer actually only consists of two files, "voice.dat" and "se.dat". If you want, you can just make it install to the desktop, and then put those two files yourself in the main folder of Ever17. You might want to make backups of the original voice.dat and se.dat files, or rename them. Just in case.
