What is the last eroge you finished, and what do you think about it?
Harlequin replied to Maxar's topic in Eroge General Talk
Fair enough, thank you! The writing overall must be very good I suppose... And well, sometimes that can be enough for it to be great too. There's something about the art in Key VNs that turns me away from them. Hmm, yes, something about the eyes I think. They look odd to me. HOWEVER, I know that's not a strong enough reason to not read/play it if the text is meaningful. And no doubt then that it is meaningful in Little Busters. -

That's surprising, because I remembered that you posted something like a list before with your favourite VNs (yes, just confirmed that you did!). So... You think Little Busters is better than Sharin/G-senjou? And ef aswell? Now I've only played Sharin and G-senjou on your list myself, but this is curious for me because I've never had any interest to read these Key VNs for some reason. Yet, now you would place it above Sharin/G-senjou, which I know myself are amazing. Yes, it's definately interesting. So, would you mind explaining what was good about it and such? It must be quite something if it was better than Sharin for you. -
Oooooh weeeell, kinda wanted to think of something original but yes, Kenichi is certainly very badass. He's a "funny weirdo genius hero" (wow) with a great backstory and ability to overcome problems. Oh and let's not forget the mumbling and the honey juice and... As for tsundere, hard to think of just one yes. There's plenty of them that do the personality justice I'm sure. But you know what? I just remembered one character in particular that was really great... Irina Vladimirovna Putina! Yes, the white-haired russian tsundere from "My Girlfriend is the President". She was hilarious.

Again, you're really fast at reading... but can't blame you for that, easy to get hooked on good writing. -

Hehe, you know, I think you mentioned this stuff (Sharin Fandisc) in another thread... Maybe some others did too for that matter. Yet, I didn't quite believe you for some reason. I was thinking; "How bad could it possibly be? Happy romance and the like is good for me. I like that stuff." But oooooh boy, it didn't take long for me to realize just how right you actually were. I went on with Sachi's route first. Yes, that's right. And... It is the most boring piece of writing I have ever read, BAR NONE. Oh my, it was so unbelievably, incredibly and unrelentingly boring. I just can't believe how uninteresting that piece of garbage is. NOTHING of worth happens in it. Yes, I know now, Houzuki's route is the one that actually matters. I'll read it at some point. By the way, as a direct comparison, the Edelweiss fandisc was very good I thought. Better than the main game even, which is quite something.

Oo, thanks, haven't looked that one up before.

Sorry, this is a bit offtopic but, what anime is the gif on your signature from higguy? Or if anyone else here can tell me, that'd be great too.
-
Haha no worries my friend, been the same for me... well maybe not exactly, it's been more of a time issue. So from what I gather, it seems the characters are the biggest deal perhaps in this anime, especially Horo? Oh that's fine and actually it's even more intriguing now for that reason. The characters have depth and it's more about them? Great. Hopefully the 25 (?) episodes is sufficient for it. Because I do feel that such stories needs a proper amount of time. And yea the trading part seems good, that's the very first thing that made me interested in watching it actually. Also, a shame that there's not alot of lovey-dovey in it, OMA. That's the kind I like, it makes me happy. Oh well, it's totally fine. By the way, you seem to be very straightforward and honest, so I trust you on this one for sure.
-
Any comments and opinions on this anime? I'm thinking about watching it next (when there's time), it seems quite good and interesting. Beautiful too, or that's the impression I get. I like adventure stuff, where one person or several people go on a long journey to many places, seeing many different things... It's like that, isn't it? Does it have good romance? I'm a sucker for that stuff aswell, so. The kind of romance that makes you happy, not sad or frustrated. As an example of romance that I absolutely despise -> School Days. By the way, I really do trust the opinions of everyone on this forum. That's why I come here to ask this kind of stuff. It's the exact same when it comes to VNs. The reviews and such that you can read on here all seem very accurate and true. Atleast that's how my experience has been so far. Thanks in advance!

That's a sweet deal you've got there! Ain't for me though, don't have enough time right now, too much other stuff to do.

Well I found an unofficial little patch that makes it abit easier. It was posted on a FAQ. If anyone here is actually gonna play the game, you might want to get it: • View topic - 'Easy' Patch Since such a patch even exists, and according to that thread, yes it does seem like this game is also still hard. Too hard perhaps. I'm gonna use the patch. Moving around the map quicker is very good.
-
Hah, yea, know what you mean there. Yes I do think you've got a certain amount of time before you "lose", unfortunately. Can't say for sure though. It seems to be abit dynamic. The Void (world) produces colour (resource) in cycles. What kind of colour and how much it produces is randomised. However, The Void is slowly dying, or something like that, so it's starting to lose its ability to produce colour. And since colour is the resource for everything in the game... Well... To tell you the truth though, I'm not completely sure yet what the *ultimate* goal is. "Free" all the sisters? Kill all the brothers? The game is very vague, but it might be that I'm just too stupid to understand it all. Perhaps it has several endings. I just got access to Uta's chambers, so that must be some progress. As a result of that I also got access to Mantis's (brother) chamber, but I can't do anything with it yet.

Well I read that this one had some balance issues too. At first it was too easy, then a patch came and made it way too hard, then yet another patch came along and now it's... good, I think. Pretty sure that's what I read. The English version has the latest patch automatically. It really is a bizarre game, with really weird dialogue. But that's why it's worth a try. Also, the graphics certainly aren't problematic in The Void. It's very beautiful actually. The overall game design I haven't seen any faults with - yet. But there might be some possibly. What I'm getting from it so far is that it might still be quite a hard game. Colour is scarce. It doesn't seem to be at first, but it is. And you need alot of it. Actually, one thing that needs to be said when talking about its potential difficulty, is this: The game is on a timer. Or that's what I've read anyway. To be fair, the Sisters in the game hints towards that in a cryptic way aswell. You don't have an unlimited amount of time to do what needs to be done. That gives the game a sense of urgency, for good or bad.
-
Ah! That's fine too then! I'm glad you caught some interest desi. The trailer hopefully doesn't show too much. I haven't actually seen it myself so I wouldn't know. And yes, it was a good move by the developers. You have to commend them for it. But not just that, the game itself too. HONESTLY, you won't find another game like this. That's why I want more people to see this. Tell me later about your first impressions, won't you?

Hello there! So... "The Void"... This is probably the most surreal game I've ever played. I haven't played it for long, but I simply must tell you about it. I was thinking that ErogeGames might appreciate a weird game like this, so there you go. As a sidenote, I've played Sacrifice and Zeno Clash before. Both of those games are incredibly odd and yet great at the same time. If you've played and enjoyed those games before, then you should definately check The Void out. The Void (video game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Void - Buy and download on GamersGate - GamersGate is where I found out about it and one of the main reasons why I got the game. It's supercheap there right now, so check it out. Now... DON'T watch other people play it or whatever. Don't do that. The less you know beforehand, the better. Why? Because having your mind blown from all the strange things and strange words is a great thing! Be brave and just buy it, since it's so cheap anyway. Then play it. Of course this is all assuming that you can enjoy a weird/surreal game. If you can't, then don't bother. So what is "The Void"? It's an action-adventure game. A really unique one. I don't really want to spoil the game mechanics, although GamersGate does that abit anyway. But here's some things of note: Great, surrealistic visuals. It's like being in a dream. An odd dream. It's beautiful and strange. One of the best things about The Void. The actual game and its mechanics... Oh boy. It has its faults I'm sure, but it's special. It's mind-boggling and weird, yet you can still play and understand it... Hopefully! Let's just randomly name a few things that appear in the game - Colour (ultimate resource), Sisters (naked friends and allies), Brothers (supposedly the creepy Big Bads of the game, haven't met one yet), Glyphs (drawing with Colour!), The Void (the surreal world), Predators (weird enemies of the game). Creepiness. This is really subjective I think, but for me, this game is so odd and weird that it's borderline scary. But that's a great thing! Artistic nudity. Well that's what most people would say anyway. In any case, nudity. Yea. Honestly now, how many "normal" games have nudity like that nowadays? Some, but not many. The Witcher 2 comes to mind. Can't say much more, since I still need to play it more myself. Simply put, it's just a unique and beautiful game. Haven't seen anything like it before. The big draw though is the fact that it's cheap now. And hey, even if you don't want to pay for it, you should still try it. You know where and how. You have to try this game. It's something else. Maybe you won't love it, but you gotta see it for yourself.

What are your impressions of Higurashi so far? As far as I know its main focus is mystery, so that of course makes me curious. Those graphical enhancements seems like a nice bonus aswell, because to be honest... I really think the characters look ridiculous with the original art. Also, it has no voice acting? Anyway, what are your thoughts around it?

Now that... will be a sad day indeed. But that's why we have positive thinking! New things being translated! Things to look forward to. Yes! -

Wait what? Backstory? Is that what it is? I knew it would have something about Houzuki in it because it was mentioned in some other thread... Wait, maybe it's this thread actually. Probably is. Anyway, didn't know it was a backstory until now. Should be interesting no doubt. Well, in any case, once again the sadness of completing a good piece of writing is here! I genuinely feel sorry for those around here who have "run out" of the good stuff. I still have many things to read myself. Now, thankfully, new VNs are being translated. Good ones too I think? So I guess it's not all that bad. Haha yes, it's got some quite addicting gameplay. High quality stuff really, except the story of course which you implied aswell. Oh and, somehow, I've spent 144 hours on it without finishing the game even once. Yea, I don't get it either... at all. 144 hours and not even one route completed? Really? What?... -

Sharin no Kuni. Only one route so far and I haven't touched the fandisc yet either, but whatever. So, you know... I think this one was even better for me than G-senjou, even though G-senjou was still great. The situation presented in the game was very interesting for sure. An alternate reality with an alternate way of handling "criminals". It was uncomfortable at times, just like G-senjou. Depressing almost. Neither of these VNs are afraid of going abit dark. Visuals? Great. Can't say more than that. Sound? Perfect music that sets the mood the way it's supposed to be. The voice actors did a nice job too. Characters? Kenichi is definately my favourite main character so far, VN-wise. Let me tell you, that Kenichi... He really weirded me out at first, completely. But he's amazing once you get used to him and learn more about his story. Also, one has to mention that thing called Houzuki. He's something else. Superhuman, and yet he's clearly not. Intimidating, dangerous and also an enigma. The other characters are all sweet and funny with good backstories. Plot? Best part of course. Thrilling and emotional, depressing and heroic, peaceful and destructive, funny and weird. The backstory of the main character was phenomenal, it really kept me interested. All the moments with Natsumi were nice, for me atleast, which is why I liked the 4th and 5th chapters alot in particular. As a sidenote, I didn't know what the heck was going on at first in the VN. Everything was so weird. The characters acted weirdly, especially Kenichi. I didn't know how I was supposed to react to all of it. Was Kenichi breaking the fourth wall, or was he not? Was Uzuki actually insane? Fairies? What are you talking about? etc. Of course all of this makes sense eventually. It just starts out weird as hell, that's all. Other than that, how much more can you say really? It's a must-read for anyone who loves VNs and who hasn't read it already. It's REALLY friggin' good. Keeps you hooked until the end. I know that many others here love it and they do so for very good reasons. Now, I'm gonna finish it up completely myself, fandisc included. -
You know what? This is actually really hard, because there's just so many good ones, aren't there? But I think my list would be almost the same as desi's. That is... Muv-Luv (series) Sharin no Kuni G-senjou Katawa Shoujo Ever17 It's too hard to pick one. Okay, maybe Muv-Luv then if there can be only one. Yea, ok. Because it's almost perfect in every way really. But for example, I loved the mysteries in Ever17 more than the ones in Muv-Luv. Katawa Shoujo had more interesting romance. As for G-senjou and Sharin... Well... They're excellent thrillers, I guess you could say. And they also both happen to have superb main characters. Takeshi is still great of course.

Crazy Thrilling Moments in VNs? Why now, surely that's one the best parts about good VNs. G-senjou has plenty of it, as said. That's just one example of very many! For me atleast, such moments are the #1 thing to look for in a VN. It's the memorable stuff. The "moments", not really the day-to-day stuff.
