The pop-ups on that site seem to embed into the page, I tried creating a script that would block them from loading. Took me a while to get it to stop it from coming up, but the page did not load as well. Well, i'm not a expert at this so in the future there might be a way to block them. Adblocker's only seems to block things that are separate from the page, so I haven't seen one that actually blocks stuff like this. Edit: I noticed that you're getting some on here... adblocker's "should" block the ones here. hmmmm..... This things go way past the times adblocker was a huge thing, the thing is that they're rare to come by. ---------------- Chrome lets you "Force Close" individual tabs. Do this for the ones that lock your browser. _task manager _end task for the one that locked your browser Note: Firefox does not let you do this, all the tabs are running in one single process.

What kind of pop-ups you talking about? Can I get a screenshot or some info(malware, screen lock, etc.) on what they're?

That plugin is to bypass the encryption for that site... so, I doubt it will work with any other site. Browsers have their pros and cons, you will inevitably jump from one to another.

Just use task bar(edit:manager not bar) if you are using chrome(chrome uses tabs for all the pages you have up in your browser) and end task for that one page that is locking your browser. Maoh, that extension does not work most of the time... well, sometimes is better than none. Yeah, these things are a scam.... they can range from "FBI Notices all the way to Virus claims".

If you're using the school network then some sites might be unavailable(torrent sites are most likely to be blocked). I've also heard that they blocked steam on some Universities, if you wanted to play some games. Reading manga is no problem as long as you find a site that is hosting it. The thing about anime and VN's is that you mentioned you download them as torrent's. Well, in the end if you're going to be using your own ISP, then forget everything I mentioned about sites being blocked. One thing I do remember one of my friends used to download heaps of porn(back in the day people did that) on there network but he used a VPN... don't know if this still works(they might have blocked the ports) as I have not been in Uni for a bit of time. Do take note that sometimes when installing some other files(applications) it might end up in the language that your locale is set to. Just revert the "locale" to yours and it will be fine when installing other things.(rarely happens tho)
