Finished Sharin no Kuni a few weeks ago. I have to say that my expectation for this VN was actually quite high. In fact, it was so high that I’m genuinely afraid that it might not be able to fulfill it. Perhaps, this is the downside when you start following good writers, and read most of their works. You will start to expect a certain level of quality from them and are disappointed if you don’t get it. Nevertheless, quite to my amusement, Sharin did somehow ends up reaching my expectation most of the time. Looseboy did a great job with the storyline, scenario, and plot, while succeed in making me cared about what happens to each of the characters in Sharin. It has also made me think and realized a few important stuff, though what’s it is about I can’t write it here, unfortunately. It is for the readers to find out themselves. After all, different people will have a different perception. Some of the criticism that I have for Sharin was that a few of the important moments, mainly in chapter 3, is a bit too formulaic, like some sort of a pattern, and it was getting really predictable. Chapter 3 also suffers from being longer than it should have been, since some scenes felt like it drags on far too long. The CGs qualities aren't exactly top-notch either. [spoiler= A rant for Sharin no Kuni] Chapter 1 - As an opening chapter, it did a pretty good job introducing each character in the story and setting up everything nicely for the latter parts while keeping the readers entertain with its fair share of comedy. 7/10 (This is the score for the chapter and NOT the score for the whole VN) Chapter 2 – (Sachi’s chapter) It's complicated how this end up being my most favorite chapter in the whole game. Seriously, I can’t give any objective or rational reasons for it. If anything, Chapter 2 really challenges my patience, and it keeps pushing my limit that it makes me sick. However, by the end of it, it was so beautifully rewarding, and I felt really impressed. 8/10 (This is the score for the chapter and NOT the score for the whole VN) Chapter 3 – (Touka’s chapter) Its kind of like the story is going nowhere most of the time, and plagued by predictability and repetition, Looseboy trick doesn't carry the same impact like it originally did in Sachi’s chapter. 5.5/10 (This is the score for the chapter and NOT the score for the whole VN) Chapter 4 – (Natsumi’s chapter) I really enjoyed this chapter, especially the backstory. Oh and, Houzuki is a badass! 8.5/10 (This is the score for the chapter and NOT the score for the whole VN) Also, curse Demonman101 for spoiling me on one of the most original and key moments in this VN. You damn motherfucker! Chapter 5 – Awesome. The best chapter in this VN. Nuff said. 9.5/10 (This is the score for the chapter and NOT the score for the whole VN) Heroine Ending(s)- From good to downright sucks: Touka>Natsumi>Harem>Sachi>Ririko Sachi's end is too damn predictable. Ririko’s ending are very disappointing that I raged quite a bit after I'd read it. It was so stupid. Overall, I'm not satisfied with some of the heroines endings at all. Art & CGs - I don't really like it, and the CGs aren't exactly good either. I see. I've just noticed that Ivan has listed Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai chapters (Meakashi, Tsumihoroboshi, etc.) like that too. Since the precedent has been set, I guess it's acceptable for Rose Gun Days - Season 1 to be listed as complete.

Rose Gun Days Season 1 is a partial patch. It was also listed in VNDB as such. However, I'm not sure whether the translation team considered it as a partial release, though.

(And this will be a repetition for one of my post in this thread) Minori almost go down when they released an all-ages title called Supipara last year, so they went and slap a dozen h-scenes on NnP and the result was a huge success. NnP sold really well in Japan. As for your real question, my answer would be that you can perfectly say and/or write whatever you want. There’s nothing to stop you from bitching about the existence of H-scenes in story-driven VNs for 24 hours, every single day if you wanted to. (I’m exaggerating but you’ll get the gist. I hope.) Hello there. I believe I’m correct to think that you blamed Nukige, weird fetish, and the people who likes and bought them as the main reason why story-driven VN has h-scenes. All of MG story-driven VN (such as Kara) has h-scenes, but they don’t sell that well. Were it to be all-ages, will it sell more? And why does this happens? Why did the western VN communities throw their money for Boob Wars rather than a story-centric VNs? One of the few reasons that I could think of was that it’s because of the unfamiliarity with the Eroge genre and the existing misconceptions. Since they don’t really understand the medium, it’s either they turned away, or they seek something that doesn’t need an explanation, which is porn. There's also the mentality and mindset among some players that they play Eroge only to get the H-scenes or HCGs. Others would be that they play VNs in order to escape from the shitty real life, that they want some "rabu rabu", and that there's no point in reading a heavy story VNs since it will just reminded them of real life problem. -.- But then, even if western communities doesn’t want Nukige VN and doesn’t have weird fetish, do you really think that MG or Jast can bring many story-driven VN for us? Do you believe that story-driven VN won’t have any h-scenes in it if that were the case? Bear in mind that this is a Japanese game. All the Japanese companies care about is their own native consumers. Unless the Japanese people demand it, there will always be h-scenes in story-driven VNs. "Nukige effect" isn't a dub or anything (as far as I know), bur rather it was just a title of that article, since the author is trying to discuss the "effect" of "nukige" towards the VN community. The author is expressing his dissatisfaction about people generalizing every VN as nukige, about people don't want to play all-ages game because it's not Nukige, and about MG nukige line-up. So tell me, exactly how h-scenes in story driven VN is related to this article or the so-called "Nukige Effect" of yours? One, that's not a question. Two, don't forget that Anime has Yaoi/Shounen ai genre. Three, some anime doesn't even have female characters at all. Doesn't see any female in the character list, so yeah.
