  1. What do you mean? Everyone loved Kanon's H-scenes. ... Sort of. Also, for the record, the LB EX spreadsheet was updated to 98.5% translation on the LB/EX new stuff. Looks like the translation guys at least are throwing everything and the kitchen sink to get the lines TL'ed.
  2. Because it's not LB ME hype, it's LB EX/ME hype. Neither LB EX or LB ME have actually been released yet (and that's what the spreadsheet keeps track of), so we're excited for both to come out. ME essentially is just an all ages version of EX, yes, but both EX/ME versions have way more content than the original version, which is the only version right now that's been translated. 3 new routes, 1 entirely new character, more detail and polish in existing routes as well as more common route content.... definitely looking forward to the EX/ME release
  3. True, but translation is almost always the part that takes the most time. Editing and proofreading is usually much faster, partly because the people who do it don't necessarily have to be Japanese speaking. It's almost certainly not going to come out over night, but it's getting pretty close now! Fact of the matter is whenever it comes out, I'm going to stop what I'm doing and play it. Loved the original and it's been so long since I played it that I expect I'll enjoy EX immensely.

  5. June Update Where the hell did you go? Hi guys. Remember when we said we’d do fortnightly updates to keep you guys up to date with everything that we’ve been doing and to keep you engaged? ……… Well… suffice to say, they didn’t exactly pan out as planned. This is due to a variety of reasons, the most pivotal being the evil monstrosities known as university exams. Luckily, though, they are for the most part through for everyone. Huzzah! At any rate, sorry for not keeping up with you guys (blame helv... because everything is his fault ). The new and improved plan for updates will have us updating every 2-3 weeks now that we’re freer. We’ll also cycle through different members of staff so that you have a chance to meet the team (and ask questions if you want!); this also helps to spread the workload out, which is a welcomed change. Hopefully, we should be able to keep up with this schedule better. So... have you actually been doing anything? Unfortunately, due to complications with our university/work lives, progress hasn’t been as much as we would have liked. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean we haven’t been doing anything! We’re still planning our final v3 demo release sometime in the very far future soon. As to what ‘soon’ actually entails is a little unclear right now, but we should have it done over the summer at some point. I don’t want to spoil all of the new and updated things in the demo (we might tease more in future updates), but among the changes include: • Beautiful sprites§ that won’t make your eyes bleed. • A bigger, cleaner, and all around more engaging script. • CHIBIS!!!!!!!!!!!!11 • Original music!‡ • And more! §Thank you so much to DarkSin for his hard work ‡Only a few tracks as of yet, but Vokoca has done amazing work so far I hope you’re excited as I am for this release!... because it’s been a huge amount of work :S. But it’s shaping up to be pretty great, and more representative of what the final product will be than the alpha builds we showed before. What is this Corner thing? As a part of the violet hill team, I’ve grown to have many nicknames. Choco, duff and ‘That eejit who does the editing’ are amongst the most common, but I’m also known as an idea man. Sure, most of them crash and burn in hilarious fashion (guess who came up with the fortnightly update plan...), but, as in words of Monty Python, if you throw enough castles (or ideas) at something, eventually they’ll stick... or at least that’s the theory. What this lengthy self-indulgent train of thought is leading to is a new idea: each update, we’ll have a little section called the Corner where we post little snippets of what we’ve been working on. They can be part of the overarching violet hill project, or just wee things we’ve been working on at school or on the side (most of them should be stuff from or about violet hill, though). Hopefully this generates some more discussion amongst you guys, because we live on your support! (I wonder how long until this idea spirals away into nothingness...) As I said previously, we live on your support guys. It’s what keeps the project strong and us wanting to work on it. So please, leave replies down below if you feel like it, and ask questions. If you are really inspired by the fact that we’re giving up our time and energy to give the community a fun visual novel (that’s shaped by the responses we get from the community itself!) and want to help us out, you’re able to do so! Simply playing the demo when it comes out and telling us what you liked, didn’t like, etc. helps us IMMENSELY by gauging YOUR response. If you’re really really inspired, you may be able to join the team as an active member, and have your name in the credits of the completed game! Just leave a reply or message me (or Helvetica standard). I’ll probably include a list of positions that we’d like to fill closer to our demo release.   6. There's actually surprisingly little research due to the sheer length of time long-term studies; that said, it seems to vary a bit per person. Having a polyphasic sleep cycle definitely can improve efficiency of sleep, and sleep deprivation can also decrease the amount of time needed to sleep, although not as much. Conclusion, though, is people could probably get away with less sleep than they usually do, but it can depend, and it takes a bit of devotion and time to adapt to less sleep. Anywhere from 5-6ish hours wouldn't be too difficult to achieve, and with crazy polyphasic sleep cycles (like several people who slept for 15 minutes every 4 hours, for a total of only 1.5 hours sleep!), you could have insanely high efficiency. Personally, I stick to about 6 by taking a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day, and then sleeping 4 hours at night... but anyway. Back onto some semblance of a topic, I will have no trouble at all reading little busters again. In fact, I may even enjoy reading it more since I'll know what happens... which sounds a little counter-intuitive at first, but even though I'll know the plot twists, I'll be able to recognise important points that I may have otherwise missed in my first reading. That was really important to my enjoyment of higurashi, actually. Having watched the Higurashi anime, for instance, actually made me more engrossed in the visual novel because I could pick up on subtle hints and see what was happening from a completely different perspective. Also, it's been a while since I read little busters, so I'll probably find the jokes funny again, and the extra content'll be pretty great. So yay. Whenever it's actually translated that is...
  7. I was having a poke around and I found this translation group working on Aiyoku no Eustia... People probably already know about it and it might be a bit early but... yay? I think I'm getting more excited about translation projects than actually reading visual novels because of the whole 'no free time' thing at the moment...
  8. Great week. Comyuu's getting there, LB EX moved and dracu-riot moved, and, of course, Muv Luv chronicles 1 was released. Now if only someone would translate the other chronicles as well as Eclipse when that comes out on PC that would be great... Hey, while I'm at it, why not kimi ga nozomu eien? Hahaha... ha... they're not getting done in my lifetime....

  10. Bahaha, nothing like a prompt response. I've been getting on fine, I'm just really really busy as of late. Lot's of uni work and what not. I should be less busy during the summer, though. I have a few weeks before the exams still, though, so I might come on a bit more then before things get really ugly...

  13. I know the whole 'feeding the troll' idea is frowned upon... but come on, this is just too precious. 'Made by an amateur guy. he can't write his own story.' Have you even read a book? There are a great many authors who wrote as a pastime; it's not exactly the most lucrative job out there. It's just laughable how much this statement exudes ignorance. Brilliant. I also find the nigh on incoherence of your posts humorous, as per usual. Try a little harder and you might seem slightly less like a semi-literate moron who has a serious problem grasping basic grammar and sentence formation. On another note, I'm still editing but work is slow... I've gotten bogged down with a lot of stuff in real life at uni, so it'll be a while before much gets updated on my end. The next thing I'll work on, however, is a (hopefully) new and improved prologue (basically an adapted version that should be much cleaner) along with some other script changes... so that'll be going up when I can get around to finishing it (god knows when that'll be...)
  14. Yeah, tell us what you think! Just, uh, remember I have this voodoo doll and it's really close to this conveniently placed bucket of water. You never know, the wrong comment might just push it over the edge O: But, yeah, seriously, looking forward to your thoughts.
  15. If it's easier, you may want to ask Helv for the full script. That just makes it easier to change things... but then again, it's up to you. Anyway, here are a few guidelines once you are ready. Firstly, the editing/QC'ing is pretty open ended. Feel free to change lines at will if they don't sound right or you can think of a more effective way of saying them. Most of the work should already be done, but look out typos or awkward sounding sentences. For instance, here are a couple of typos that I noticed in the demo: "As result..." should have been "As a result..." "...and wondering what..." should have been "...and wondered what..." Also, if there are lines that need more detail, feel free to embellish on current lines or add extras in (or at least give a couple of ideas). Same if there needs to be a 'breaker' line if the ideas are presented too quickly. Finally, if you have new ideas for scenes etc. or if there are other minor things about the demo that you would like to see more of/less of or something that needs to be fixed, do say so. Keep in mind it is British English that is being used, so if you do get the full script I'd recommend using notepad++ with the British English spelling. Just in case there was any confusion, this is a NEW REVAMPED demo with the backgrounds and music that'll likely be used in the full game (well, they're subject to change, but they'll give you a good idea). Some of the text at the beginning needs some QC, but that's really the only bit that needs much work (and not too terribly much, at that). If someone says that they forgot about the thread again, I fear for helv's sanity.
