I would also say Ever17. As someone said before, people (possibly ignorant) would just drop long VNs such as Clannad because it has so much side routes and stuff that you need to clear to play the After Story. Ever17 kind of keeps you hooked, for several reasons.

You can get it here - grotesque censor patch, but I'm not really sure that it will work with the English patched version. It's a messy engine and all that. Make sure you backup your saves and stuff it you want to test it out.

Sagara Family. I played it without any guide and got 1 ending. It seemed kind of odd that only 1 girl had a story, but I figured that was it and uninstalled it. Good times.
