let me tell you guys on how i get this VN virus, it's from my sister.......

it's long ago when i'm still pure ( ikr you want to puke, but all children used to be pure) the day when i likes watching hamtaro and doraemon on sunday morning, i stumble upon pandora box called pc, this pandora box belong to my sister, well this pandora box has the game i like to play (tetris), but for some reason that day i dun feel like playing it, why.....??, coz there is something else interesting at the monitor, the icon seems cute and eyecatching, it's calling me and urge me to click it, and somehow the door that should be closed now has been open, the wall that should be there instantly crumble well thats how its start and since that day i know there is something called VN in this world

there maybe not much ppl who interested in this game, but still it worth a try........ if there is a prospect to pass the VN illness i think i will try, but there is only one group of people i wont share this, that group is....... my parents..... it will be raining molten lava from sky before i told them

i'd feel better if i could discuss the latest vn's with my friends. I only know one person irl who plays vn. The problem is imo, the name itself, "eroge", immediately associated with porn. It could also be the region i live in - india.

I still believe one day people will realize the potential of visual novel's, just like they did for animes many years ago.

i feel the best way to get people interested in visual novels is to post screenshot's on forum pages and such. Many people have not seen what a vn looks like, and they might get curious/interested

Even though people realize the potential of VN,the need of read numerous text will still hinder many lazy-reading people.

I don't mind telling them, honestly, everyone I know has read/is reading Game of Thrones, which has just as much sex as the average non-nukige (is that the right term?) eroge. Sex scenes are nothing new, most literature and other media has tons of sex in it. Dutch literature actually has a book which can only be described as a nukige (almost all sex scenes with little to no story in between) called "turks fruit"

I do actually discuss most of the VN's I read with the people I know, and I don't hide the fact that there is sex in it (not that I make a point to mention it either, though)

too bad this hasn't happened in the town I live. every time I hear people talking about anime or anything connected to Japan it's never in positive way, so there's no way I could tell people about my hobbies. actually the reason I joined this forum was to be able to talk about these things...

Yea,Encouraging the people to accept VN is really difficult. (T_T)

I have tried but failed.I got a neutral reaction for that(because my friend still watch animes). His reason was simple,"it is a pain in the ass to read so many text.I would rather watch anime than play VN"~~the end.

Well, he's right I guess. It comes down to whether one loves to read or not... Not much to do about it. Atleast you have a friend like that who watches anime. That's not so bad after all.

Back in my school (days) there were atleast SOME who liked anime/manga. Or atleast that made it obvious they like the stuff. Artsy people, mostly girls, who drew anime characters on breaks. None of my friends had any interest in it though, or even mentioned it at any point. It was kinda the same for me in the end.

But I for one atleast appreciated anime/manga when I actually saw it back then, but I never pursued it, I never looked for the stuff. Now I regret abit not speaking with any of those artsy ones, they were very nice people, yet still frowned upon. They were weird, or so everyone around them thought. What's funny is that I would probably have fit in with them more than with the friends I had. I raised the wrong flags and got an imperfect route, you could say.

As for VNs though, no one at that school ever mentioned them. I never knew they even existed. What a shame, because I've always loved reading. Well, thank you Katawa Shoujo. I'd never end up here on this site, ever (probably), if it wasn't for you.

Well, thank you Pirate Bay and Katawa Shoujo. I'd never end up here on this site, ever (probably), if it wasn't for you.

:D for me, it all started when i saw a video of FSN sakura h scene on youtube(only the initial, youtube wouldn't allow it otherwise ofc)...which kinda "attracted" me to play the vn(had only seen the anime). But yea, if it wasn't for that, i'd have probably started from katawa shoujo too(at that time, it was quite popular in some of the OT forums i visited)
