Rewrite End Game Spoilers Edit: Haha, beaten to it by Desi.

RIP Baldr's Sky. All we can do now is hope. Cou, F/HA, CC editing and Mahoyo is all good though. And Grisaia is very near ^^. 2 or 3 more weeks for the translation, and then it's down to the editing.

[Seiha] Little Witch Romanesque Kickstarter Project
Chocolatemilkgod replied to sanahtlig's topic in Eroge News
Yeah I have no problems with it, but the makers of the game could argue that it's their intellectual property (just in another language). It's made more complicated because I'm not sure whether it falls under the fair use clause any more as it's no longer 'non-profit'. What I don't understand is why the dev didn't jump on this opportunity. I mean, he could have made a deal (sort of like JAST does) where Aroduc sells the patch (or even the whole game) and the company makes a bit of money off of it. Then, both parties would have been happy (Aroduck would have gotten funding and the company would get a profit (only difficulty then is taxes, but whatever)). I don't know whether Aroduc would have agreed, but responding the way the developer did isn't really the best way to make friends or to influence people. -

It didn't take him long to get the money, haha. I personally have no problems with the idea of funding a fan translation -- in fact, as long as the money asked for isn't extortionate, I wouldn't mind other translators doing this. I mean, translating a VN is a huge undertaking, and having monetary support means that more people might actually have an incentive to do it. Mind you, I would probably not support a project unless it's by a proven translator (like Aroduc, Ixrex etc.), or unless the translator translates a significant part of the game first (say like 10-20%) as an example of the calibre of work that you would expect if you then helped to fund a project. I suppose then it just comes down to copyright issues, which are always a pain in the ass... -
Thought I would change it up and celebrate Link to the past 2 being made. http://images5.alphacoders.com/333/333121.jpg

I was suggesting to someone who is very busy over the next couple of months that you can learn a little bit over that time quite easily without too much commitment. Of course I'm not stupid enough to think that 10-15 minutes every day will result in proficiency over night. After you're not crazy-busy you can spend more time with the language, but doing anything, even if you're busy, is certainly better than nothing. In fact, learning a little bit while you're busy will give you a feel for the language without getting too caught up in it (then when you're free, spend 1-2+ hours on the language).

You could easily 'obtain' a copy of Heisig's 'Remembering the Kanji' and learn, say, 5-15 characters a day. It only takes 10-15 minutes each day, and it's not overly stressful (I find it quite relaxing as it's a bit of a change of pace from biochemistry). Some of the meanings of the characters are a little outdated/misrepresented, mind you, but it's still probably the easiest way to learn the kanji (the methods employed effectively get them into your long term memory). Just use rikaikun for kanji definitions and Reviewing the Kanji for revision (Rikaikun is for chrome, by the way. I think it's called rikaichan in other browsers, but you'll have to find the correct version). Additionally, you might want to start by learning the two syllabaries that make up the language: hiragana and katakana. Again, just learn a few a day and work with it -- and have fun! Are you part of a translation group or something? Regardless, good luck (I can't help with that, but I'm sure someone can).

What a train wreck. Well, at least the thread didn't get completely derailed or anything, right? Hahaha... Haha... ... And, actually on topic, FSN is worth a read, at least. You can worry about the details they're arguing about later.

Like I did with Clannad, haha. I'll have to replay it if the translation quality ever gets worked out. For a first visual novel, I would highly recommend Katawa Shoujo as it's a good VN while not being intense or difficult to play (there is little sexual content, and it can actually be turned off, if you prefer). Additionally, as it was written for English audiences, a lot of the writing feels tight (bar one route in particular...) and I loved the soundtrack and the watercolour art. Finally, it's free and easy to download from their website. Hooray for simplicity!

Problem is I find his convictions naive, and it's really only in the HF route that it becomes interesting. His incapability around girls is nigh on torturous, and he spends so much time with them that it really gets in the way of telling the story. There are ways to tell a perfectly effective story about character growth and development without making it feel painful to read. Mind you, this is my opinion. I'm sure tons of people think otherwise, which is fine. The other characters and the presentation of the world make up for what Shirou lacks, though, and I enjoyed the VN despite Shirou's...issues.

What eroges are you playing right now?
Chocolatemilkgod replied to Harkoz's topic in Eroge General Talk
Playing Kanon, slowly. Really busy with life at the moment, so kanon is really relaxing to play, and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm not that far into the game, though, so I couldn't tell much more than that. -
Nice week. Grisaia and CC are nearing release, and good translation progress on Coμ (Ixrec = translating machine...not to be confused by a crappy machine translation, mind you) and some others. Plus also Dra+Koi was released which'll I'll sit down and read after Kanon.

Am I the only one who liked Rewrite's art then? Yeah? Ok, just me. Anyway, just to reaffirm: Rewrite was very good. It feels different than other key games, but that's not a bad thing. Plus I found the common route to actually be very enjoyable, unlike one key game in particular...anyway I digress. The only problem is that it is inconsistent in a few of the routes, and I felt there was a little too much padding in some of them as well.

^This is true. The thread would have been much more interesting if it was only about lego. -

Visual novel of the week contest # 17
Chocolatemilkgod replied to switch's topic in Eroge General Talk
It's better than last week, but I still haven't played any of them...I'll just choose the one that looks the most interesting. -
Joy and jubilation! That decides which VN I'll be reading next. I'll probably sit tight until the next version, though.

I'm writing this waaaay too early in the morning, so pardon the terrible explanations. But, any-who here we go: Desi could probably explain that several orders of magnitude better.

Screenshot or list of VN's you have
Chocolatemilkgod replied to sharosudo's topic in Eroge General Talk
What's my list? Pretty much everything on erogedownload that's good. It means that if there is an apocalypse (assuming I have access to unlimted electricity, food and water), I'd still be able to play through all the visual novels I'd ever want to. Favourite? Definitely muv luv alternative. My review explained some of the bits that I didn't like about the series, but despite those issues, the game affected me so much that it'd be difficult for it not to be my favourite. The story is so intense I have no idea when I will actually want and have the time to replay it, but sometimes the best things are experienced only once. Need to Read? Christ, my need-to-read VN list is stupidly long, but a few of the big ones I need to get around to are Higurashi, Umineko, G-senjou and ef a tale of memories. There's a lot of others though...luckily I read fast, but I don't have a lot of time at the moment. Do I own any of them? Uhh...well unfortunately, being a student means that I have to live off baked beans, noodles and the occasional bit of minced meat. Anything else is a little outside my budget at the moment. Recomendations? Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo is nice because it's medium length and pretty good. I had a couple of minor quips with it, but mostly a very solid and enjoyable game. Ever17 is pure win. The buildup is great, and the only problem is sitting through some of the boring or repetitive conversations/events (your friend is the skip button). Anything key related (Clannad (although you may want to wait until the translation is less shoddy), Little busters (again, you may want to wait for the EX version), Rewrite and Kanon). And finally, but not least, the Muv Luv Series. To play this you need a fair amount of patience (or be a fast reader) to get through the first two parts. They're not bad games, but they're nothing compared to the end of the trilogy, Muv Luv Alternative, which is a must read. -
Liking the over 50% edited on Cross Channel retranslation and the Grisaia translation (less than 6% to translate!). Of course no baldr sky...haha who am I kidding, of course we weren't expecting an update there :/

I don't see an issue asking for people on the forums to support making a new game, ulti... And good luck! I don't have any idea what it'll be about, since I don't speak german, but oh well. I'll probably donate at some point.

The Instrumental rock in some of the songs makes the music pretty decent too -- and I'm not even into that kind of music.
