  1. It's kind of surprising that Mirai Nikki is for 10-15 year olds since, like I said, it contains graphic violence, nudity, and rape.
  2. So I just watched the first episode of Hyouka, and the adaptation was so bad I had to start a new topic for it: https://erogegames.com/social/anime-lobby/567-hyouka/

    Hyouka

Did anybody watch the first episode? I saw the description in one of those "Spring 2012 Preview" pictures and thought it looked interesting. Yesterday, I saw that the light novel series was on Baka-Tsuki and I started reading it. It was pretty good, and not far off from what I expected, but it's nothing too great either. All in all, it's something I'll continue to read as more of it is translated. Just now I watched the first episode. The animation quality was great—just what I expect from Kyoto Animation, but the story wasn't very good. It's not like it was exciting to begin with, but the
  4. I know what the word means; what I wanted to know was what defined the genre. I had a general idea of shounen anime/manga as things like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, etc. But then I read that Bakuman was considered shounen, and it's really nothing like those shows, so I looked for information about shounen anime. When I saw that list, there were a lot of things that seemed like they shouldn't be considered shounen. Mirai Nikki has plenty of graphic violence as well as nudity and rape. I thought shounen was like ages 10+ or something. Mirai Nikki definitely shouldn't be in that category. I g
  5. I completely agree with everything in this post. The art and story weren't very good. The protagonist sucked. The threesome ending was the best one, but that doesn't mean much in such a bad game.
  6. I liked this show too, and I can see where you're coming from with losing interest. I didn't really lose interest altogether, but it was a little less interesting towards the end. Did you know there's a movie coming out this winter? I'm not too sure about what qualifies as shounen anime. I think I read something that said Bakuman was considered shounen. I only recently started watching it, but it's been pretty good so far. EDIT: This list has shows like The World God Only Knows and Mirai Nikki on it, which I didn't think were shounen. Can somebody please tell me what qualifies as "shoune
  7. Yeah, I realize, but I figured I'd post it anyways since it was just updated.
  8. Period progress update: translation 90.13% complete, up from 89.04%. The last route is 26.01% complete, up from 20.58%.
  9. I can understand that. Sometimes the subs are so bad it's like you're watching an entirely different show from the original. And the good subs usually take a lot longer to come out. After watching lots of anime, I can understand a lot of what's being said, so the subs don't have to be perfect for me to enjoy the show, but it's still better to have good subs. I just watched something where there were six mistranslations in one episode - and that's just what I noticed with my small knowledge of Japanese; I don't know how many other things were wrong. And someone with no knowledge of Japanese wou
  10. This show ended quite a while ago though... You should be able to find it for download. And you will like it since you liked Bakemonogatari. It's Bakemonogatari with even more fan service.
  11. I don't know how hard it is to extract the text, but reverse engineering software doesn't seem very easy to me. It must not be too hard for people that know what they're doing, though, since it gets done all the time. But that aside, the translating part is where it turns into a lot of work. There are thousand of lines to be translated, even in a short game. And how long it takes depends on how much skill, motivation, and free time the translator has. Sometimes it takes years for a game to be translated. Very often it gets dropped once the translator realizes how much work it is. Also, if th
  12. Someone extracts the text from the game, then you translate the lines and have him put them back in. Different translation groups do it differently, but that's the basic process.
  13. I don't mind focusing on the comedy because this show is really funny, and that's kind of the point, but I like the action too. If this season is going to be like the first season, then the action will start to pick up soon. At the end of the most recent episode, they had Kyouko laughing maniacally, so she'll probably come back in the next episode and the action will pick up again. I agree with this statement. ('_')b
  14. If you want to translate a game that has already been translated to a different language, you should try getting in contact with the translation team, because they have these tools.
  15. If you're talking about translating a game, then you need a programmer to take the game apart and put it back together again. If you're talking about something you make yourself, there are various free tools. RenPy is one that's pretty simple and easy to use.
  16. English originally comes from Germanic roots, but with a lot of Latin and French mixed in. It has so many words from other languages (like façade) and so many weird spellings and pronunciations (like doubt) that you can't tell what a word sounds like from the way it looks. Also, it's probably much harder to learn English when your first language is Japanese than it is too learn Japanese when your first language is English. English has so many more sounds than Japanese and you only need to memorize kanji, but you have to learn all the sounds that each letter and combination of letters can m
  17. I think you might be right about that. I usually like to watch shows all at once, and that's what I did with the first season, but I've been watching this one each week and it's not bad at all that way. Shows like this that are more about the comedy than the plot are good for watching weekly.
  18. The PC version came out on the same day as the last episode of the Amagami SS+ anime (the 2nd season). It probably follows the story of the anime very closely, rather than being just a remake of the PS2 version. All it says is "Amagami" but it might be Amagami SS, since PC games are a lot easier to translate than PS2 or PSP games, and Amagami SS just came out recently.
  19. I know. I was playing a different game and as soon as the characters said they liked each other they had sex, and then kissed. Then they made a big deal out of their first kiss, even though they just had sex like it was a handshake.
  20. When I saw this, I thought "Somebody just watched the anime and decided to translate the game. Then they'll find out how much work it is and drop it." Hopefully I was wrong, but that's probably how it is.
  21. Maybe I should amend that: an h-scene can add a lot to the story if it's done right. It's usually not very important. I also hate that "I like you." -> "I like you too." -> "Let's have sex." way of doing it. I think I complained about elsewhere on this forum.
  22. AX = Anime Expo AX 2012 is June 29 – July 2, 2012 Anime Expo® 2012 - Los Angeles Conventions Center (LACC) June 29th-July 2nd 2012
  23. I play for the story too. Sometimes the h-scenes are so awkward or just weird so I skip through them, but when they do it right, an h-scene can be a very important part of the story. But sadly that's not the case with Kanon.
