No, it's not necessary. In fact, the original version had no H and they shoehorned it in with the EX version. By all accounts it is not only really bad at its job of being eroitc, it ruins the pacing, the story tone, and even the characters themselves, being actively destructive to the overall story experience. But if that's what you want, I'm sure somebody will eventually make a patch.

Doki posted an update on their page and said that they have actually been in talks with VisualArts directly for close to a year now.

It was only just released that this happened. They've been talking with Visual Arts for a while, but they wanted to keep it a secret, presumably until everything was finalised and the script was closer to being finished. I have no idea what the time frame will be because they talk about cleaning up their original translation on top of doing the work for the perfect edition.

I have news for you the 'additional content' that made it 'perfect' was added in as well. The problem I have is simple they promised that they would release the EX/ME versions they didn't. Now they are releasing the totally unrelated version for visualarts probably because 12+ will sell better. Me I don't care. If I wanted to play the all ages version I would have already have done so.

 

I also think them stringing us along for two years with zero updates when they said they've been in talks for over a year is a bitch move. Look we all know how this works some of these people take the fan translations and other people who have volunteered their time and decide to "sell it" to the company. I doubt it took over a year if Key initiated the conversation my guess is they approached Key and tried to sell the translation and thats where the conversation begin

The sex scenes are not as bad as the usual Key stuff but still pretty awkward (caused by Riki's personality), from what I've heard.

Probably not but a bit of fanservice can't hurt. If you don't like the heroine you can just skip the scene. I don't think sex scenes really hurt a story focused visual novel AS LONG AS they don't overdo it. Like a shitload of scenes or extremly bad ones. Usually I go for the 18+ as well, just to see some smexy CGs of the heroines I like. Yeah, I'm a pervert.

The base game doesn't have any of the new routes and other content this new release has, though. I don't know why people want the 18+ stuff so badly. It's just bad porn and it literally ruins the characters and storylines. They were also bolted on awkwardly after the stories were already written. I just don't get the appeal.

 

edit: You said you don't play any non-h games so I guess you only want games you can fap to, but you won't be able to fap to this anyways. I don't know of anyone who has ever actually successfully completed a fap to a key h-scene. You shouldn't write off an entire category of games like that. It's like a nerd who proudly proclaims that they will never listen to rap music while only having heard a few songs on the radio.
