  1. This one right now--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [spoiler=Umineko] CERTAINLY no MIRACLE! http://i.imgur.com/la39pzA.jpg
  2. Well I dunno what kind of connection you have...

If it's a big deal to download 1.2gb that the complete pack takes, and if you simply only want to patch the version of the game that you've already downloaded (with arcs 1-4), then:

    1. Get the 1-4 music pack compilation (non-PS2)

    2. Get the sound patch v2, because the version of the game that you downloaded from that mediafire link might not be fully updated

    3. Download the font patch and install the font file in it (drag it into the Windows Fonts folder if necessary)

The game you have should already have the PS2 graphic patch in it.

  3. Well I got a simple answer for you about that stuff actually: Get this complete pack of Higurashi I made recently! :p part1 part2 part3 part4 part5 part6

With this you don't need to worry about anything except one thing, which is mentioned in the readme. The pack contains arcs 1-8. As many patches as possible are included while also keeping it as "stable" as possible at the same time. I made sure that no extras are unlocked from the start, and I also removed a patch that causes a bug in arc 7. And that's different from the versions of the game that you linked actually.

Download pack - check readme - play. Easiest that way!

PC music > PS2 Music, if the PS2 music is the same thing as the Matsuri music.

  4. Well, I didn't have any problems with the translation. And did not find those parts boring that you mentioned either. You're right though, the patch does affect things. No voice acting and such without it. That's why I said I used it!
  5. Finished Umineko no Naku Koro ni (1-4) yesterday. Epic, mysterious, funny, emotional, suspenseful, powerful, SPOT ON. Sidenote: been using the PS3 patch. I think it goes without saying that the story in this VN is fucking awesome. The writing is phenomenal. And as far as mystery stories go specifically - it's top of the line. A LOT OF THINKING TO DO. A LOT. And we like that of course! Oh man... and then there's the multitude of characters and their development, which is also spot on I would say. SO many characters that I love in there. Ryukishi is very good at creating interesting personalities and deep characters that you want to know more about. And in my case at least, the fact that it's all presented with the NVL-style of text just makes it even better. The narration is just so good and keeps me interested. To be honest, I only really have praise for it. Yup. That's how it is. The OST in Umineko is the best I've ever heard in any VN so far. Exactly the same with the voice acting. Seriously, it's leagues better than what you find in other VNs (specifically the music). Don't believe me? Read it and you'll fucking see for yourself what I mean. Or hear, rather. Sound effects and such are also really good, just like it was in Higurashi. They add a lot to the experience. So does all the little "extras" (if you want to call them that) that you get while reading and after finishing each EP. While I actually liked all of the EPs in Umineko Ni, 3 and 4 were just godlike pretty much. So much epic. So many speculations to make. So much pondering to do. And so many great characters. AND SO MUCH AMAZING MUSIC! Okay, that's enough gushing for now. Any negatives about this VN? Nope. I mean, what? What was bad about it? YOU TELL ME. I can't think of anything. Nothing was lacking at all. There wasn't any point in the VN that I thought was genuinely boring. The story kept me hooked and will most definitely stay with me long after finishing it. The technicalities were all great (music, sound, art, characters, extras, pacing, etc.). No negative that I can think of. Again: Best music and voice acting I've ever heard in a VN. So that's two *best* even. There might even be more than two. Best story as well? Best writing? Possibly, but I think it would be fair to wait and see what it's like in Chiru first. But the story and writing so far in Umineko Ni does not disappoint whatsoever. And the characters? Good lord... ... Okay! Stopping for real this time! Waiting for the Chiru patch now. Will be out soon enough most likely. Looking forward to that sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!
  6. If you really want to know how many there are specifically, then: [spoiler=number of MLA episodes]11
  7. Having some internet connection problems (yes, again...) at the moment, so can't play well right now. But whatever! My character name is "Ayamine Kei". On Ship 2 of course. http://i.imgur.com/QQydrsD.jpg I punch people to death. With my bare hands. ... Though I will use fist weapons when I get them... there are fist weapons, RIGHT!?!?
  8. Haven't read any of these. No vote.
  9. Well, this one won't be very interesting I guess, lol...
  10. Yea. The ones OneManArmy mentioned should be good for ya. Can't comment on all of them myself 'cause I haven't read every single one of 'em, but you would enjoy Ef, Hoshizora no Memoria and Osananajimi wa Daitouryou a lot I think. Those are rather safe bets. How much is a "decent amount" of H-scenes in a VN for you OP? Well, whatever the case, I'd like to add the three Akabeisoft2 titles to the list of things for you to try. Sure they don't have a large amount of sexual content in them, but they have some of it at least + AWESOME stories (especially Sharin & G-senjou). It would be a shame not to read them at some point. Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo - Fandisc for the above title. G-senjou no Maou A Profile
  11. This is EXACTLY what I wanted to see in the main VN back when I was reading it... yea, got disappointed actually. Oh well. At least one will be able to enjoy it in this fandisc at some point!
  12. ------- Personally I prefer Hinamizawa (Higurashi) to Rokkenjima (Umineko) as a setting in general. As for the story... we'll see. Episode 3 in Umineko was better than any arc in all of Higurashi (1-8)... I think... pretty sure. Well it's reeeeally promising in any case. Might end up loving Umineko even more, though that's not for certain.

Both were written by Ryukishi07 (GREAT writing)... and after completing Higurashi, I feel right at home in Umineko even though the story is certainly different and all that. I know you've been trying to get Ef working for ya, which is also a great VN - especially the last chapters in it. But if you can't do that... then... well... might as well start on Higurashi, no? Can't absolutely guarantee that you'll like it though of course. Different tastes and all that.

Yea I had to post this in two parts, haha. Character limit. :S

  13. Heh, thanks ^^. It's Rena from Higurashi!

Well it's easy to say at least that Umineko is awesome. It sure as hell has the best music in any VN I've read so far, though that seems to be a really common opinion (that it has the best OST). Same thing with the voice acting, which is something you can only get with the PS3 patches. It's very, very enjoyable overall. Great characters, fun story, a lot of thinking to do (a plus), and so on.

But is it better than Higurashi? That's more difficult to say. Most people do consider it to be better I think, though it's really subjective anyway. Technically, it is better in several areas. For example - it has faaaar more and better quality music, a lot more characters to love, awesome voice acting which Higu doesn't have any of at all, and maybe some other stuff. But the story? The setting? That's different. It'll come down to taste for sure. -------

  14. No vote from me. A Profile was quite nice, but I'm pretty damn sure I'd enjoy Sharnoth and Inganock more - both of which I haven't read yet. Love Liar-soft thanks to Forest, and blablabla.
  15. [spoiler=EP10]Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, it never fails to surprise does it, lol! Loved this episode as well for the same reasons as killer. Fanservice, for everyone! I think it's totally fine for there to be an episode like this. It was fun! But hey, hopefully the last episodes will be even MORE crazy than what we've already seen so far in this anime. Because we do like that part about Sasami-san the most, ooooh yes. ... ... *nosebleed*
  16. Voted for Sharin, 'cause I liked it more than G-senjou... though it seems like it's gonna lose pretty big anyway.
  17. Have you just started with this VN? If so: There's no music playing on the main menu or at the very beginning of the story, so don't worry and just keep going. Edit: Nevermind, just saw you asked the same thing elsewhere and got the answer you wanted there (same as my answer).
  18. Good news all around! Also, thanks for the link to that OP, Ryu. Hadn't seen it before.
  19. ... ... ... Mission accomplished, Switch. Again!
  20. Awesome... getting there!
