SaruDa 11 Posted February 18, 2012 Share Posted February 18, 2012 It all started when I searched the writer of Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, and I stumbled upon one his/their games titled 'Saya no Uta'...... afterwards I stepped into the V-n realm and I regret nothing. Excellent choice. I'm still waiting for Phantom of Inferno to get translated. If not, it's one of the first games I'll play when my Japanese reading level is sufficient. They're in DVD format, the subs are buggy as hell, there's no saving system, it's all-ages, the subs are missing in spots, the art is less refined than the phantom integration version...long story short, I refuse to play the DVD version(especially since sex scenes play an important part in the story). I kind of resent Hirameki for releasing that version and killing any future enthusiasm for a proper translation, actually Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The first spark that got me into eroge would be Shuffle! (the anime). It was the second anime I ever watched off the internet (which I wanna say... around 3-4 years ago). I thought it was hilarious and everything (and still do). Though it was the second time I watched about 6 months later that I found out it was based off of a visual novel. I was trying to get my stepbro even more into anime and we ended up watching shuffle together we had a great time watching it (plus I kept lying to him about the ending and screwing with his head). Then I was doing random research on it on Wikipedia out of boredom and that's where I found out it was based on a VN. My first thought was (I think) "Wait it's an 18+ game? That's the first time ever hearing about one". So I clicked on the Wikipedia link to visual novels and found out what they were. So I decided to search for the Shuffle! game but all I found was the ps2 version on Hongfire as a torrent. Now I decided to download it and that became my first ever torrent. Now after a WEEK of downloading it (seriously I'm not exaggerating. it was literally a week to DL it) I found out I couldn't play it (Even if I could I doubt I could understand it since I would have to rely on my stepbro's questionable japanese skills). So it just sat on my old comp forever. Instead I decided to look for free VN's (I had no idea pirating existed) only to find out most of them cost money. I did however find two free VN's (The first on is where your a guy that has a terminal illness, meets a depressing chick with a terminal illness, runs away from the hospital with her, go on a grand road trip with her, to were she commits suicide by drowning herself into the sea to control her death or something. The second one is your a guy who recently moved to a town for work and while walking during holiday break he hears piano music from a shrine. He then finds out a highschool that's also a shrine maiden at the shrine was playing the song. He then promptly spends a lot of his free time with said girl and then they fall in love with each other. Then the epilogue has the girl take the guy to a hiking trip to show him a super beautiful spot in the mountains and then go home. The end). Though neither of them was was 18+ so they weren't eroge. That was the first spark. The second spark came about a year (or maybe 2 years?) later. After watching Fate/ Stay Night a few months earlier. (Now this part is a little more fuzzy in my memory but I sure it's 90% accurate) I found out that F/SN was also a VN like the old Shuffle! anime and Higurashi (which I found out that too is VN but never looked into it.) and decided to look around for the F/SN game. Now this time I knew about pirating. So I went to the torrent site that my internet friend showed me (more or less) and looked for it. This time I found it and it was bundled with the translation patch. I got it and played the whole thing and it was at least 20x better then the old VN's that I played a long time ago. I played it, enjoyed the hell out of it, and then got pissed off there was no Illiya route (she is still one of my favorite lolis... that is when she's lovable and not homicidal). That was my first eroge ever. But I still wasn't fully into the world of eroge. I was more like standing on the edge of it while the eroge world was like, "Come over to the Darkside. We have have cookies, er... I mean Hentai." Now who could resist that? Well except for my stepbro. He doesn't like hentai at all... Anyways I ended finding out a game called tsukihime is loosely related to F/SN and so I played that as well. Now the spark was turning into a flame lol. Now, about 6 months ago I decided to look for more VNs and stumbled upon this awesome site and downloaded some eroge that I got bored of quickly and is still on my comp (it was where a guy screws his sister who kept on doing everything she could to seduce him and well... too much porn and not enough story ). But that was the final spark that lead to the bonfire known as the world of Eroge. Using the combined powers of this site and another that calls itself the visual novel database or something, I swiftly downloaded and played a bunch of Eroges and/or VNs that I wish I knew about sooner. Though there are still a whole ton I have yet to play. Ok that was 3 paragraphs long but oh well. Well the last one isn't really a paragraph, but oh well who cares. The Internet was new to me, sex was mysterious to me, and I loved video games. Particularly ones where I can just relax and immerse myself into a story and characters. My first downloads were Nocturnal Illusion (oh man, the music takes me back) and 3 Sister's Story. The first sex scene I came across, I actually blushed and covered the screen with my hands, I was embarrassed and didn't really understand all of it. I didn't know what "cumming" was. It's pretty funny looking back. I ended up on a mission to find all of the decent games, as a little 15 year old girl I was seeking out non-English websites that were the most likely to have the games I wanted. So I learned sex from often goofy, poorly translated erogames... I worry it still affects me somewhat, and I'm 27 now. I don't even have real interest in the sex anymore (unless it's yaoi, but I only played 2 with that) My favorite game is Eve: Burst Error, of which I didn't even play a version with sex scenes...I played it when the characters could have an incredible impact on me, and it was perfect (and I could forgive the localization...). This magazine had some advertisements: one of these was a website, so I decided then to check it out. I played games like Secret Wives Club and Horny Bunnies, but I remember going through Aeka's path in Yume Miru Kusuri and being amazed at actually having some emotional reaction what happened to a video game character. Anyways, I will never regret it. this happen to me to. for me it goes ike this manga + games => anime => galge it's about one year ago in august, when i feel bored like hell and watching anime doesn't satisfy my thirst, i read some anime megazine and there some kind of ad in there about some site selling anime and galge (illegally of course) and decide to try to buy some which is FSN, Hitomi my stepsister, the sagara family and shuffle. i was so pure back then when i think that the site that i was buying the game is legal, then i have some trouble installing "Hitomi" (the first eroge in my pc, hell yeah ), i can't run the game b'cuz i don't have idea how to crack it. (yeah the guy who sent me the game doesn't add the crack file so i can't play it @@). then i try googling and found my answer in erogedownload.com hehehe. from there on i just keep DL the game all the way . Then i think i could try IRC. Then i did IRC. Then one day, i think i could do explore more moe. Then i found them. in Visual Novels. Then I found erogedownload.com.
